Ableton: a copy protection violation has been identified...

Post by ism » Sun Sep 23, 2007 6:32 pm

ok, so maybe im one of those despicable fellows that doesn't own his/her own copy of a certain piece of software . . . but hey, im poor as fuck !

anyway, i was recently workin' on a track and when i went so save it i was confronted with the following message: "a copy protection violation has been identified. please contact tech support blah blah blah".

Now obviously i can't contact "tech support" because they are absolutely right, a copy protection violation certainly had been identified ! after tryin' to reinstall the software from various different downloaded installers (not only my origional file) i am still plagued by this izan production censorship message and i cant do anythin' with any of ma tracks.

have "ableton.com" secretly put something on ma mac that is causing this ? a file or somethin' sneaky like that ? if so where the fuck is it and how do i get rid of it ?

please . . . this is drivin' me fuckin' crazy, and i still need to finish that bastard track !!!

A mate of mine always calls it Alberton, is it some kind of piss-take name or something?

Oh yeah and you can get it (legally i think) for extrememly cheap here:

http://www.ellsworthband.com

Along with loads of other stuff. Apparently its all legit and full versions and everything.

Actually that site is suffering from some technical business boomnoise and pokes style, you might wanna use this one:

www.zoomerart.net

Like i say, i'm fairly sure they are legal, mods feel free to remove it if you don't think so.

Aaah fack that one is down as well, but www.oemsoftsales.net seems to be affiliated as well. No ableton there, but other stuff dirt cheap. I just asked them if they stock ableton so i will get back to you on that when they reply

Them OEM software sites aren't 100% legit. What the more legit ones do is make copies of software that's given out to computer manufacturers, suppliers. Eg, you buy a computer from Dell, and Dell gives you a free copy of Windows, Office etc, those are OEM versions. So those sites are making copies of apparently (but not really) freely distributable software, and reselling it.

The other variant is where you get a site that's just selling the hacked version you can get yourself from pirate bay or demonoid or wherever. They are 100% not legit. And a total rip-off. This is the one you're dealing with I think, because I don't think Ableton is ever given away free with a computer purchase, it's more likely to be Live Lite. I might be wrong about that.

Btw, if you called Ableton tech support and told them you bought it from an OEM site, they'd hang up on you. Doesn't matter how legit the site is, they aren't proper Ableton dealers, end of story.

I'm sure most wont care, just passing on the info.

And buy it you scumbag

are you asking how to get around problems caused by using cracked wares?

1) keep it off here, we don't want that kinda chat on dubstepforum.com, and

2) buy it instead, software costs money for a reason.
