Bass Institute - Filth (Dubstep)

Post by Bass Institute » Mon Dec 09, 2013 8:40 am

Hey guys,

I just joined this forum; the quality of some of the tunes here is phenomenal. I'm looking forward to hearing so many of your tunes.

I have just uploaded a track to my Soundcloud:

I'd love to know what you think, and would appreciate any feedback for future productions.

Cheers,

Welcome noob.

Right, some real mixdown issues here my friend, drums were almost drowned out of existance by the mid bass, and the sub was too loud/not deep enough.

Some of the drum arrangement was pretty robotic at times too. I liked the arp sounds, they were pretty cool, but I only listened halfway.

Now, get involved giving feedback to other's ;-)

Like Echoi said drums are being drowned out by the bass and the song is quite bland atm, but we have all been there at the start so don't worry at all mate, I suggest checking out the mixdown money shot thread over in the production forum if you haven't already to get the basics on mixdowns etc, it will give you a good starting point, there is so much good info in there.

Also, instead of turning up the drums consider turning down the wubz . Evening out the sounds in the mix is the goal to clean this one up. Sounds like u used sidechain compression but it wasnt enough. :)

thanks for the feedback guys! I haven't had too much experience in doing mixdowns so this has been very helpful.

Milaflore mentioned that the song was quite bland, any tips or suggestions on how it could be done differently to make it a little more exciting?

First what others said the drums are being drowned out also to vary it maybe add some hat rolls once in a while to vary the drum pattern.
