36th Chamber is fully one of the sickest tunes to come around for a while.

Mad mad groove on those drums

Murlo's Last Dance gets a big shout from me, crazy ass melodies, very fresh sounds.

Someone mentioned Della - Young Kid, thats a big one for me too.

I'm going to buy a lot of potential 130 essential records, never play them then stick them up on discogs for mad profit.

Soundcloud

How come this hasn't been released yet? Pretty much one of the sickest tunes made by the 130 keysound crew.

ukno it feels a bit premature to be talking about a 'holy grail' record for a scene that's barely been around properly for a year lol

though fwiw it will be kowloon

So for the record (sic), I love Champion and tried to release "1994", which we played in our sets (and our RA mix) without stop for a year (it preceded all this special request/etch/tessla jungle stuff by years fwiw). Unfortunately we couldn't get clearance on the samples.

It's been exciting to see all the posts in this thread, feels like things are coming together now, so bigup all you lot for supporting it.

One thing I noticed: in the big "influences" post, there was no mention of UK funky, which I consider a massive both influence and driver on 130, since we pretty much build this out of UK funky, with influences from dubstep, grime, jungle etc of course. You could hear uk funky in Beneath's sound too. Garage (4x4, 2step) too but obviously that was more distant when all this began, whereas UK funky was a starting point. (not heard the Scratcha DVA mix of God Made Me Funky? go find it!).

Just my 2p

PS: there's a lot more to grime than "White Label Classics". I mean, this is far more prominent an influence in 2013.

True that, I'm not the biggest fan of UK funky, so not really knowledgeable enough to talk about it in that context.

I think it was Phigure that posted this very Beneath-y tune by Nightmares On Wax on facebook the other day...

Yeah, I could've chatted on about the grime records for days, as I mentioned, was trying to be concise, and I know you can still easily buy White Label Classics today, so thought it was more relevant to the guy trying to get into it a bit more than telling him to go search for a load of Wiley Kat records on discogs, a lot of which aren't even on youtube. :4:

Plus, I think just about every producer in this thread has either sampled from, or tried to refix "Funktionz"

i mentioned cooly g :t:
wouldn't say she was making standard funky, then again neither did scratcha. but her style is definitely the closest to stuff like beneath (tunes like "akai", "last night", "oh boy"...)

this is where it started for me.

Also, LV "Routes" is a bonafide classic and I think doesnt get enough credit.
