What I personally miss the most, based on my first couple of listens, is the rhythmic textures that got me hooked on Burial's music in the first place. His tunes usually has such a great groove and swing to them. To me, these tracks lack any interesting rhythms and grooves.
But then that's most likely not what he's going for here, and that's cool. I guess this release is just not for me, gonna give Shutta a spin instead! :D
Big up Burial - still a hero!

I have a theory that a lot of people who don't like post-Untrue Burial are just DJs who are upset that the new tracks are totally unmixable.

As works of music though they're unparalleled.

just did this and it was meh. first track wins, second track is like an 8 minute interlude and the synth line on the last tune is too cheesy for me :corntard:

i'm just more into really solid percussion right now and this release didn't really deliver on that front at all.

how did you like truant/rough sleeper?

Do you have a competitor for the outro of Rough Sleeper? I still think that it is some of the best music I've ever heard. Only Godspeed You Black Emperor! comes close. Basically, I agree with the intro of this:

In a manner of speaking it is a great release, it's good food for thought. In a music perspective not that ace imo, although like I said before I'm quite pleased to hear something entirely different that I would ever come to expect from Burial I honestly did not enjoy it, specially the pop sounding parts from Hiders and Come down to us. One could even relate the lyrics from all the vox throughout the whole EP and the pop music to be some sort of coming out of the closet thing, but I think it's probably not even related at all.

This.

Why would someone who is a notoriously private individual need to "come out" in a tune? Why would he care what you knew about him? You don't know anything else.

Not diggin' Burial's use of vocals on this EP. They seem too exposed. Still w8ing for the Burial Juke double LP doe.

I was actually excited about coming home from work today and banging on a pre-order for the new Burial, just to keep up the collection... going to give this one a miss. It reminds me of those terrible self-made YouTube videos of that lonely Indian teenager who self-directs his own auto-tuned love songs. I can't find this reference anywhere on YouTube to make a comparison, but I'm beginning to think it's because Steve Goodman has put out a cease & desist order on the poor guy.

That's good news man, I did wonder why you seemed to disappear for a while. Glad to hear you're better and there's some new tunes on the horizon!

Has anyone read any reviews or articles about this yet...I know factmag had the one about the "coming out" theory(which is totally retarded btw) but I havent seen any other reviews up yet.I hope the needle drop does a video on this b/c while I don't always agree w/ him he tends to point out things in the music that I overlook sometimes.
