U-he Satin Tape VST Released (finally!)

Post by fragments » Fri Sep 13, 2013 2:50 pm

U-he finally released their Satin tape emulation VST. I've heard lots of good things about it on GearSlutz...some are saying it's the best flange/chorus VST they've heard. Its on sale for 89USD until Oct 7th, then it'll go up to 129USD. I'm going to grab it before the price increase. Anyone tried it yet? Been following the news?

I believe it's another product (not released yet) by U-he...

I need a good flanger/chorus.

Such a standard effect that everyone seems to get wrong. Most are kind of harsh sounding to my ears and really miss the smoothmess, which is the damn point of the effect.

I agree, I rarely use it because I don't feel like there is a really good one out there. I like the Interruptor's Wow n Flutter for a flanger. Damn good for the price of free. I like d16 Syntorus OK for chorus.

Really, I'd love to get an EHX Polychorus Pedal (stereo in and out)...it's pretty fucking lush. There are some others. Strymons is probably pretty decent as well. I'm kind of torn as I really want Satin...but Strymon's El Capistan tape echo pedal is fucking amazing and I really want one...300USDs new though. It does have spring reverb built in and many of the same features as Satin, though its meant to be a delay pedal.

I shouldn't buy both and I already own Slate VTM....Ah decisions... :6:

Demo'ed Satin with much anticipation... and was not feeling it as a tape sim, then again, I don't think I've liked any. I've heard a lot of demo's pon the tube that I liked, most notably UAD's, but also heard a demo of Satin up there and it sounded great. Anything I added it to, didn't sound like anything, or was just too distorted. As always it must be me, but I did not get to where I wanted to go, with a fair amount of tweaking.

I've been really enjoying Satin...but not in a "makes things sound like they were recorded to real tape" kinda way...mostly as an interesting sounding, sometimes lo fi FX tool : )
