If you can knock out 8 of 90kg you'd easily smash 100kg. Keep at it!

I have a two year goal to go twice my body weight and bench 200kg.

well done mate. inching your way to 100kegs. was this your 1RM?
Nah, that was 8 reps! Must've been seriously in the zone. Did 60 as a warm up, then I just banged another 20 on (which was a new record for me) for 2 sets, and it felt good, so I banged another 10 on and smashed out 8 reps. Will see if I can still do it next week, or I was just in temporary beast mode.

For reference, I'm currently 84kg/185lbs, so well proud to be able to bench more than my weight. Testament for just fucking going for it and pushing yourself (whilst staying safe), I guess.
Good effort...do you have a spotter for these kinds of weights? I'm still way off my target of 100kg, but the times I go to the gym I'm generally the only person in there so wondering how heavy I should be going before I need a spot.

Yeah, 9 times out of 10 my mate is there to spot me. Wouldn't have tried 90 on my own. My target is 100 too, just because that's what they bench at the NFL combine, so guess it's a good benchmark (NPI) for an american football player.

Congrats on the bench record m8.

I'm 68 kgs at the mo and I'm benching 60 now. Aiming for 80 by March. Could be tricky since push is what I stall on first and I overtrained my chest with db benches last time fairly quickly, but these first 2 weeks have been perfect in terms of gains.

Hate db benches with a passion. Always feel like I'm wobbling, not going as low with one arm, etc. Genuinely am shocked at how quick I've been able to go up on the bench though, big up for all the kind words, I will give shout outs at next year's World's Strongest Man. :w:

Hah, if you hate it, then that's the reason why you should be doing it! Lower the weight and make full use of that entire range of motion. It's a great exercise. I just fucked myself by adding weight too fast (2 kg per dumbell = 4 kg per week on my chest for 4 weeks.. oops) when I started bulking in September. I grew mass, but not nearly as much as I could have and plateaud around the same weight I started with :/. And that overtraining also affected my barbell shoulder press. 3XC;LVKCPOKV$#%%#

Also totalllllly issuing a formal apology to front squats. My GOD what an amazing exercise. It's ruff, but I can see why it's great. It'll improve my posture amazingly. Didn't know it was supposed to 'choke' me, but yep, it's dope. Vastly prefer DOING it to back squats and it may become my second favorite exercise.

...FUCK doing stiff legged deads with dumbells, though. And fucking using wriststraps on dumbells. I'll just to doing them on barbells. Wasted so much time and effort with those things. Officially fuck anyone who does them with dumbells. Totally on some personal shit.

So are you saying just because you can move up in weight every week doesn'y mean you should? I thought the whole idea of a bulk was going for the gusto..

It was my first bulk in years. I cut before that, took a break and when I did db benches, I added 4 kgs to the weight I was doing in my cut.. and then those 4 kg weekly. My performance in the other 2 exercises suffered from it and the weight I had to use each week fluctuated big time.

Also didn't take enough time between sets.

If you've been bulking for longer or are properly muscular it's probably cool, but I jumped right into the deep while ignoring the signs something was wrong. Def learned from it.

This time I started light and I properly add slowly. Now I know my body better and have a better idea of when I can add faster. Like with deadlifts? I can do 5 kgs per week quite easily now I think.

Owh lol, in that case it's perhaps better that somebody else gets to know your body too?
