Finally finished watching Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 1 & 2, absolutely incredible series and i'm sad that they are over. Brilliant voice acting, animation, music, story, everything about them was great.

Re: The Anime Thread
I don't know enough about anime, but i do enjoy it.
I think i've only seen Tekken - The Motion picture and Akira mind you.
got ghost in shell on its way, from love film. should i be watching the 2 hour long 96' film or the S.A.C series first?
can anyone recommend me some more similar, not too into the pretty stuff, more dark plezzzzzzzz.

My english teacher gave me a weird look when I mentioned that as the musical instrument I played. Like the wtf stare. I had to give her the 'wiki wiki' dj motion to confirm what i meant.

Recommend this;

Three 45mins episodes making a series, about a bunch of convicted criminals who are given time off their sentences in exchange for hunting other criminals. Also where Nero nicked the video for Innocence from.

Re: The Anime Thread
Currently watching Stein's;Gate. A time travel/butterfly effect style series featuring a bunch of akihabara geeks. Pretty good, though 10 eps in I need something big to happen to really grab me. Will let you know how it pans out.

And yes Wub, Cyber City was one of the things that really got me into anime in the late 90's back when Sci-Fi channel had the 12pm-3/4am slot. The second chapter was the one. I think there was a bit of discussion earlier in the thread.
And to everyone asking for recommendations, might I direct you to the previous 14 pages of exactly that.
Having said that, breththeaslewood, for dark stuff you can't go wrong by Elfen Lied for a series and Perfect Blue for a film.

Cromartie High is a good show if you want something that is completely ridiculous
The show randomly has a mute Freddie Mercury, a Gorilla and a Robot all at the school for reasons that aren't really explained at all ever.

all of Satoshi Kon's stuff (Perfect Blue, Tokyo Godfathers, Paprika, Paranoia Agent)
Tokyo Tribe 2 (really underrated over the top series about gangs)
Death Note (mainstream as hell but still really good and well written)
Statement of Intent VIP / Sahaquiel v4 single out now on UK Trends.

Anyone else seen Kurozuka? Absolutely love the art direction, sort of reminds me of a dark miyazaki. Bit of a frustrating ending though.

I'm only joking, finji.
I actually really like anime! I'm on a Gurren Lagann tip atm but I also watched Basilisk for the first time recently which was pukka!
Edit - What is this from, finji?

Mind game is brilliant. Dead leaves is pretty different.
Aachi & Ssipak
In a future where energy is made from fecal matter, the government rewards defecation with "juicybars". Small-time hustlers try to get rich while fending off the mutated Diaper Gang.
There's also Rock and rule, Yellow submarine and Valhalla that are cool but it's western stuff and probably unrelated..
