it's hilarious how everyone think they're the shit and let their egos get in the way of them helping someone.

That's hilarious.

I honestly doubt I could offer much in the way of help. My post was aimed at the 2 guys comparing dick size.

Also if you're gonna chat shit about someone's production ability, you better make sure the soundcloud link in your sig is fire. Either cut the shit talk or clear out the sig fam. Or have some dopeness in the sig and chat shit all day but that's easier said than done.

I think OP should;

Make chill music with some elements of dubstep that he likes. Chill dubstep is nice.

I personally have never really done any in-depth sound design as dubstep producers would.. something I did recently was download a hip-hop drum pack & attempt a sample flip & use the drums I downloaded.

I made a custom slicer in Ableton & its super useful for anything......

It was fun, the drums didn't need to be processed etc etc, & the results either came fast or the project was trashed quickly without any fuss or worry about wasted time regarding sound-design.

Its now the way I start every project - much more fun & I focus on structuring & changes > sound design / processing etc.

I like it. People need to think about, strategize and ultimately develop a process that works for them. Your work will become more consistent and it is a path to developing your own sound (which may not entirely be sound, but instead your sort of structure).

But don't over intellectualize it. Just combine or string together techniques that work. And keep an eye out for what works, as you are working. That is why it helps to finish songs, once you get to that point, you need to develop strategies not just for starting, but finishing.
