Just went back to listen to the quake II menu theme and I could only imagine this with a load of bass under it. It would be a massive massive tune.

idk about that, but yeah, even thought it's super nintendo, david wise smashed it with the donkey kong 2 soundtrack, well, all 3 of them, but DK2 soundtrack resonates with me well... some of the tunes carry weight too.

theres some proto-D1 hidden in the Lylat Wars menu if you wait after the initial fanfare. real heads know. its not even on youtube probably.
