Trust in Shure. I use Whitelabels, they are boss.

which Ortofons?
I'd use the Shure's for bookings tbh. nothing keeps track of a groove like a 44-7.
Whitelabel for homelistening and the occasional mixing session though. sound quality is really impressive for a "dj needle". not as good as the Grado DJ, obviously, but I wouldn't want to perform rewinds on a Grado.

yeah only complaint i have about the shures is they can play up a little when i take them anywhere in the travel case they come in

it's fine when i use them there but when i put them back in mine they don't always work until i've messed about with the cables a little

was gonna get two sets of ortofons initially but then a mate (with ortofons) told me he was itching to get some shures cos score5 and a couple other ppl swear by them sounding brilliant

so i decided to hedge my bets and get one pair of each lol

m44-7 sounding brilliant? couldn't agree less tbh. they're really loud, they stay in the groove, but they never sounded close to brilliant. go for Grado DJ carts if you want decent sound quality.

it would be nice if you could find some Nightclub Mk I (!) or Elektro replacement needles. they fit the pro-s cart and sound a lot smoother.
