Jokes on u mayne, my mom died and my dad got a sexchange operation.
Thought she was quiet last time.

I've been considering them since my last deadlift too, to be honest. Bar kept slipping out of my palm and wrist straps are a bit of a hassle.
For me, it's bench, taking the whole weight off the rack, right wrist just feels like it's being pushed into itself, so a bit of support and padding probs can't hurt.

Nice work Genevieve, all about the bodyweight.
On another christmas note. I just got a box of creatine, watch me get as strong as a gorilla in 2 weeks now.

Despite my best intentions to go to the gym Christmas eve, not overdo it Christmas day etc etc, it just turned into a 48hr dirty bulk
Got back on it today, felt like shit first thing but hopefully gym will have shortcircuited that. Was surprised how busy it was today TBH, more people than I'd have thought for 10:30am on Boxing Day. The January rush has begun...

Ah fuck the new year's rush man, had forgotten about that. Hopefully they all stay out of the new area at my gym (all just free weights, barbells, benches, MMA area, etc.). I think they will.

I didn't have to wait for anything today in terms of machines/benches, but there were a couple of moments where I noticeably had to step around or move out of the way of people which I don't usually get.
Acid test will be Saturday/Sunday morning, usually it's just me there for the first hour after they open.

It's no so much the waiting for machines that bothers me, I can deal with that and just do another exercise, but the overall vibe of just being in a packed, noisy gym with loads of people standing around the machines does my nut in.

I think it bugs me most people walking 'through' a set, like I'm mid rep and having to step backwards to let someone get by.

What, gyms are busier in January because people made some kind of stupid 'resolution' or something to that effect?

Usually lasts until start of February, then drops off sharply. Comes back a little at the start of June pre-holiday.

Takes till about March for me to see everyone leave and the core group of people that have been there for the last 5 years to remain.

Nah, thing that gets me is people lying to themselves. Either they know they aren't gonna be here in a month, so have wasted at least a few hundred quid on membership, or they come down and work out so ineffectively that they're paying money for nothing (ie, middle aged women on the leg raise machine swinging their legs lifting 2.5kg)

And they're all wearing brand new expensive trainers/sports clothes and an mp3 player strapped to the arm.
I really like it when a post-xmas gym goer stays and actually gets fitter. Only happens once per leap year when all the moons of Jupiter are aligned though.
