fwiw, the reason I fell in love with American Football is the parity. You can go from being the worst team to winning the superbowl within a few seasons. I guarantee, that bar a billionaire taking over Birmingham, I will never see them win the premier league in my lifetime. I still pay attention to football, but for 99% of teams, it's just become a competition to be best of the rest.

edit: also, I'd say that a good 90% of discussion at american football training is about "soccer", so:

The NFL love is massively disproportionate and that’s because American Football has become some sort of hipster cult, enjoyed by kids who don’t like the fact that everyone else follows football or rugby so sit in their shady midnight den, wearing an oversized counterfeit Green Bay Packers cap, eating Doritos and wanking over their fantasy football teams.

Also, most games start here at 6pm on a sunday, which people will note is about 15 minutes after the sunday tv football games start.
