Merry Glacial Space Penguin Mass.

I ate an ounce of butter, temporarily ditched my wife, and turned an eight bar loop that popped up recently into a full blown song, more or less. Prob'ly less.
Used one sample from that pack.

Living the vida loca. Compatriot. The TUNA! is madness, and you have partaken.

Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
Post it up in the thread on Saturday, where ever Saturday is for you. I sweep it up at the end, as I'm at the end of the world.
Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
So... No secret identities or anything? Just a straight soundcloud post?

Song is ready. I A/B'd 2 mixdowns and chose the one I thought would hurt all your ass-ears the most.

Yeah, no secrets, no identities. I can't wait to hear.
I am traveling. But I've just found a quiet corner with a chair, in the sun, with an outlet, and a pair of headphones, so off to work I go on a very rough draft of my submission.
Y'all may hear this tune for a few weeks

Yes, I love what is going on here... just haven't listened to anything yet.
Will upload myself shortly, and then aggregate.

JizzMan potentially returned to his adopted land?
Alpha's virgin entry, touched for the very first time:
The forgetful, yet magnanimous Psychological Doctor:
Mks's also dipping his first toe into the turgid waters ruled by the TUNA!:
Bud... the most prodigious, and potentially most gifted amongst us... and no track, I cry tears of tuna oil.
Sunk(oh so)Low... no surprise here, no track. Your first time is bound to be scary, but it isn't as big of a deal as you think it is. Just relax, and it will all soon be over.
NWJ, maxed the fuck out with travels, laptop production on the fly, would really appreciate some feedback on this one. Wip of course, but I'd like to hear all of your thoughts.
Great week guys. I can't wait to listen to these tracks. Love the people that we have here, and I can only imagine if a few of the hold outs were also banging... fuck, t'would be beyond awesome. To Alpha and mks, great to see you, and I really really hope to see more of you gentlemen in the future, on, like, a weekly basis.

Jizzy, this track is set to private, would be cool if people could play it in the thread, so public, but if you're ducking and weaving, so be it. Peoples, just click the link and enjoy the trip. I heard .8 seconds of the track and it sounded really dope.JizzMan wrote:Soundcloud

Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
alpha that bass is a very nice plane to ride on. I like the percussive switch halfway through too. its like Death Grips went slightly hippie, I like it. maybe work on the melody on the lead a bit more? cos the first time it came round it sounded a bit awkward to me
psychs m8 that ones definitely quite glacier, very deep indeed. i'd say work on the atmosphere a bit more, thats the important thing with a track like this. and maybe get the click snare to be a bit drier so it has more of a slicing impact
mks, thats a badman tune. not sure what I can criticise about it, maybe try and find a different melody? cos it feels like ive heard that one loads of times before. that percussion is on point though, very nice
noways, thats sounds like one of them things that all the cool kids in Jupiter listen to. i'd say let that first half beat roll on for a bit more, thats well good man. the second half beat, i reckon that pitchbended lead needs a bit more control and refining. i'd say turn that first half into a full beat tbh, great potential there

Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
Guys ive been lurking in here and listening to everything. its all sounding so sick tbh. Next time im dropping in and getting a beat down. is there a time restriction? even if i can only get a couple of minutes down or something>?
Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
This is very free form. We do what we want. The only real restriction is you've got to turn in your track! Turn it in Saturday, or even really early Sunday if you're UK. I'm deep Pacific so I'm like half a day after you guys.
Really hope to hear from you. Quality works dude!

I totally intended to participate this week but my power's been out since monday. I've been internetting on my ipod while I visit my mom. I've gotta do a lot of work this week but I'm gonna try to finish it all tomorrow or the next day and have lots of time left over for production.
I'm trying to listen to the tracks but my internet's being all dodgy cutting out every 2 seconds.

Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
I like everyone's music. There are some talented producers in here.
I just listened to my track on my mp3 player at 230 kbps (
) and realized that my ghetto mastering job done at 10pm last night sounds like shite. Oh well, I'll fix it later among a few other things. I learned a lot from this particular exercise or maybe re-learned some things that I had forgotten. I did end up restricting myself to only using samples from that one samplepack which were all Jungle samples from 150 to 170 bpm. I made my track at 126 bpm. I found a strange lack of a feature in Ableton that I remember encountering before a few years ago. When you bring a 165 bpm sample (or whatever) into a 126 bpm tune, Ableton automatically timestretches it of course. But when to try to drag that timestretched sample into a sampler (in my case I used only Simpler and Drum Racks for the entire tune, since this was all samples), the sample would revert to its original tempo. Kind of annoying.
My workaround was to just create a new audio track and resample the timestretched audio, and then I could drag it into the sampler at the tempo that I wanted it.
I will try to participate in this more, but I don't know if I'll make every week or not. I am about to start Uni working on a new degree next week. I'll do what I can.
