Right on man. I completely understand. And FWIW, they are scamming more than 5,500 a year...they take out the maximum per year (whatever that is...its way more than 5k, possibly 10 times more) and are keeping the balance after 5,500. Eitherway its all bullshit.

And as for the people who legit want an education, the school still convinces them its "better" than paying out of pocket. Which is stupid. If I made 50k a year and could go to school full time, Id just take the hit...but I dont have kids etc.

I could go on about this stuff forever as Im not a fan of the cult of academia in the States so I will stop derailing.

Anyway, as for predictions....

Glad to see a lot of people are on about this getting away from prestine mixes...

I pretty much bailed on DnB about 7 years ago...I wonder what is going to happen with it...I still get the DL on some decent tracks from my DJ friends...but really its just the same dark neuro stuff over and over. Im not complaining because I can listen to that stuff a lot...seems like for the most part dance music has gotten slower...

Im OK with all the LA Beat and instrumental hip hop stuff. But Id like to see someone pick up where Portishead, Tricky and Massive Attack left off...

I think we're heading to more swing on the dancefloor. Disco/Jazz influences will come back, revival of the drummachine/old polysynth/jazz sample stuff!
I really hope there are some cool people jumping on this train, because you can do it terribly wrong... But if done right, it's gonna be an amazing year!

And in whole the 'rock' scene I think we're heading at a revival of the 80's... And I love it! Kids who grew up listenin to daddy's old david bowie/Fleetwood Mac/Prince/New Order records are beginning to make some decent music and I think some groups will rise to fame!
Don't ask me any names... I just have this feeling!

idk really what's gonna happen in terms of mainstream music- though i hope that finally there are some bands and stuff again kinda like 2001-7 ish with strokes/kasabian/franz ferdinand/killers etc so that going out to a random club isn't entirely joyless. bastille are ok- more like them please.

Can't really make any predictions either but I can say what I hope for and in terms of the stuff i'll be into like fragments and someone else said i'm just hoping for more rawness in my tunes plus more samples from unusual places rather than what sometimes feels like listening to the same sample rearranged 5 times on an EP.

For home listening I hope we get more stuff in the vein of Forest Sword's album- especially in regards to how they treat their vocals, its almost like the voices were recorded in a church from the reverb used in most of the songs- then there's the distorted but still very refined basslines and the kind of muted piano, all makes a very different aesthetic to anything else I've heard.

Also hoping we get more stuff which sounds like remastered Ultravox albums with added layer of distortion- this is kind of an obvious example as it is basically just a cure track but more influences like this from 80's 'new wave' i guess would be great.

kind of like how this https://soundcloud.com/vessel/mammon sounds kind of like it could be an instrumental for this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qmny4LSjDgU in another world. Basically more feedback guitars and plaintive vocals over heavy subs and distortion

Then another step up to just industrial dancefloor stuff. I mean I know a lot of bros on here like heavy music- you should start with this tune and then move on to the rest of modern love's output. I know last year was kind of big for stuff like this but I hope more quality stuff starts coming out and more nights get put on near me (or any).

For house I'm hoping for more raw stripped back stuff like this Gerry Read tune infact I've loved pretty much everything Gerry Read has done so looking forward to everything he brings out next year and hope it's a big year for him. Also hope we get more MCDE or Andres style bangers in the summer as they're just so much more interesting than the mechanical deep house. I also really liked this tune http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erVIbIpY3Ew (at least until that second drop synth comes in) so i hope we get a few more with the big drums and that kind of synthy bassline.

Oh and even though it's the opposite of the raw dirty stuff- The really plastic synth sheen of Jam City stuff as well as selcted stuff from Night Slugs stuff (a lot of it is kind of disposable but good fun though) should finally go properly mainstream like it deserves to. I mean how was this tune not Number 1 in 5 countries?

And finally: dubstep/grime I want a big return to purple- sweeping big synths and dem melodies- just stuff like this would do me and I reckon it might happen if people finally get bored of dungeon.

lol sorry for youtube wall kind of turned into a best 2013 post

lol just saw this- having been in vodka revs at 2 am a couple of nights ago i can confirm there was no maya jane coles- just a lot of avicii, lil wayne and sadness- i would welcome a return to the killers, marina and the diamonds and sadness

Yes. In the next decade a lot schools are going to downsize or disappear in the States IMO. Small private schools will go first is my guess. The big dog private schools are unlikely to be affected IMO and the state schools will linger, but will kill themselves/each other fighting over reduced state funding.
1. I go to a small private school in "the States" and it costs $60k/year but they give awesome aid for people who need it (like me).
2. Private school won't go anywhere, public schools will. Private schools are funded off of endowments and alumni donations, their tuition fees make up maybe 2% of their revenue.

However Mr. President needs to step up to the plate and get a hold of these loans. Even the business unethical J. P. Morgan left the student loan industry..

Prediction for 2014: USA announces free higher education for everyone, lots of incoming freshmen sign up for how te make sik FM growls BA and end up crack heads before their junior year. After their parents send them to rehab, they realize there is no make sik FM growls BA and that they had just been wandering around campus drooling and yelling about the end of the world.

-I think most things will remain as stagnant as they seem now and continue to only slowly and very minimally evolve or add anything new to their respective genre. Things on the decline will only remain on the decline.
-I doubt any real break-out genre will occur. But, whatever undeniable new bangers come out, their sound will immediately be duplicated a million times over and some idiots will surely name an entire genre after the sound.
-Because of stuff like Disclosure, we'll probably see Deep House become 'cool'...this is probably well underway in the UK already...but I wouldn't be surprised if it started happening with young americans as well. They will think they're on the fore front of this 'new' genre. False sense of sophistication etc...
-Backlash against the term 'Molly'....hopefully.
-Not this year, but soon the entire super-mega-rave-edm scene will eat itself and a large portion of people will drop off leaving mostly a real core audience. (yes!)
-What I'd like to hear musically is more funk/disco finding it's way into all styles. I wanna hear 'Hard Funk'...whatever that may be. I like to hear dubstep try to use some funk..or maybe some version of french-touch dubstep ? More than anything I'd like to hear something so new and different that I can't even imagine it right now.
