BPM Festival is one of the biggest dance music festivals (or EDM, but I really didn’t want to say that) in the world and has a pretty good reputation, but Darius Syrossian has taken to Facebook claiming that the event organisers and security at the event beat him up in his DJ booth after his set on January 4th.
Syrossian claims the the event founder – a Canadian by the name of Craig Pettigrew – arrived in his DJ booth with five security guards who he then ordered to beat him up. He also shared extensive details about what went down before the festival and how the organisers were supremely unprofessional – refusing to pay his travel expenses and refusing him a guestlist and making his friends pay – throughout the whole experience, although obviously getting the shit kicked out of him and having his kneecap broken was the tip of the iceberg.

The article about dimensions says a number of things that are definitely not true. It relies on a lot of hearsay from random people there and a few stories from idiots who got upset because they took loads of drugs in the least subtle dumb ass way possible and then got upset when they got caught. I mean obviously the main issue is the spreading of stuff that isn't true but also the whole attitude of the article is "the festival is just a set up to catch people and take their money/why can't I get k'd off my face and act a twat like I can at boomtown" when actually it's Croatian law and it's made perfectly clear over and over again that the country has strict drug laws and that basically entrapment and undercover police are allowed. You have to be an idiot to get into trouble there.
I fucking hate Sick Chirpse actually. It's full of poorly written, poorly researched bullshit articles and the guys who runs it is clearly an idiot. I mean there's some straight up ignorant shite on there and loads of stupid gossip articles and even shit about Justin Bieber as if that fucking matters. Even the name annoys me. BPM Festival has responded to allegations that Darius Syrossian was attacked by bouncers during a clubnight at the event, which is currently taking place in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico.
Speaking exclusively to Mixmag, the festival made a statement: "Accusations that a physical altercation occurred... are completely false.
"[Darius Syrossian] played the opening DJ set at Steve Lawler's VIVa Warriors showcase and was asked to leave the club towards the end of the night after he verbally assaulted our staff, making a female staffer cry, and continued to berate the Directors of BPM.
"He was escorted out and BPM provided the cab fare back to his hotel."
Syrossian has alleged that he was attacked by bouncers, who he also says threatened to kill him. He has also complained that he was denied guestlist places, had to cover his own travel expenses and was paid a lower fee than normal.
However, BPM Festival has been quick to assert that "All label showcases, including VIVa Warriors, are paid a lump sum and they are responsible for arranging fees internally and paying their artists.
"BPM provides artists with ground transport from the airport as long as their flight information has been submitted. This was sent to all showcase representatives prior to the festival"
All flight and accommodation details had to be submitted before December 20, with guestlists to be handed in by December 28.
