just imagine, you'd have to contact the label, they'd take a few days to answer, then you'd have to direct the permission to the proper people at soundcloud who'd then have to find your mix and somehow manually let it pass through the filter. Even if they have the ability to do that at soundcloud (which I'm not even sure they do) it would be a huge pain in the ass.

yeah fuck that, just gonna re-record the mix with a different starting tune, good to know they don't let Digital Soundboy tracks start sets, I've had mixes blocked from Ninja Tune and Brownswood too.

They must specifically ask for it because there are other big labels that I've not had any problem with

There are some weird things going on with the filter, I can't quite figure out how it works. It blocks out stuff from Subtext as well just to add to the list.
There has to be some kind of time limit as to how much of a track you can play "umixed" before it gets filtered. Otherwise if what you say is true then that means no Machinedrum in mixes?

Let us put a blacklist together of all the labels that don't want their artists to be mixed. Will save dj's the trouble of promoting those labels. There are more than enough other labels to choose from. Though it wouldn't be a bad idea to require attribution and linking.

Good idea.
I'd like to know more about how the filters works tho. Because if it's only the first track that gets filtered as Terpit says then it'll be a shame to make this big list going "DON'T PLAY THESE TUNES IN YOUR SOUNDCLOUD MIX" when in reality it could have been "just don't play them first, ok."

I'm not even sure that the labels are always aware of what's going on in various copyright filters, I've seen labels on facebook going "so apparently we're getting filtered on soundcloud, we'll look into it" or something to that effect.

What's the time on that appeal process? I've heard of someone getting their original track blocked, with all original elements.

Ableton crashed while I was working on this bass patch.... I guess thats why i get for trying to put 9 instances of sylenth and shit load of other plugins and another 4 racks and 3 sub chains with low/mid/highs cut. Hopefully ableton can recover the whole thing :( It was the best reese ive ever made...

* Live quit around two times trying to recover the project... luckly i save the majority of the rack before hand. Ill try recreate it :W:.

Invalid reasons to dispute a claim might include:

You purchased the track online and/or own the CD or vinyl
Buying a copy of a music track digitally or physically does not give you the right to share that music track on SoundCloud. Online distribution is a right that belongs to the copyright owner.
You only used a small part of the copyright work
Generally, if you are using someone else's copyright work, you need their permission to publish that work on SoundCloud, whether it's the whole work or just a small part (e.g. a sample).
You adapted the copyright work and created something new
You still need the copyright owner’s permission, even if you’ve created something new.
You don’t earn any money from it
You still need the copyright owner’s permission even if you are not making any money from it.
Other tracks on SoundCloud contain the same copyright content
Permission to use or publish copyright material is granted on individual basis by the copyright owner or their representative. The fact that someone else may have permission to use the same content does not mean that it is freely available for everyone to use. A separate license has to be obtained for each case.
It’s a free download
Some artists may give away their album or track as free download. You still need permission from the copyright owner to publish the copyright work on SoundCloud even if the copyright owner has made it available for free elsewhere.
You included a copyright notice or credit A copyright notice or credit is often a condition of a license, but it is not a substitute for a license. You still need permission from the copyright owner, even if you give them credit.
Valid reasons to dispute a claim are:

You are the copyright owner
You can dispute the claim if you are the copyright owner and have the exclusive right to share this material on SoundCloud.
You are working on behalf of the copyright owner
You can dispute the claim if you are working on behalf of the copyright owner who has given you permission to share this material on SoundCloud - for example, you are a PR agency working on behalf of a rightsholder.
The copyright work has been mistakenly identified
You can dispute the claim if the copyright work does not actually appear in the material you uploaded.
You have a valid license from the copyright owner
You can dispute the claim if you have a valid license, for example, you uploaded sounds containing audio samples but you have already cleared these samples with the relevant copyright owners.
If you think you have a valid reason, please continue.

There's a bloke in my street atm, I'd say he's in his mid twenties, playing with a massive RC powered car that makes so much noise that it sounds like there's an F1 race going on in my street.
If he doesn't fuck off soon I think I'm gonna accidently reverse my car over the fucking thing.
