Re: How many of yall are trying to create a different genre
26 of our guys are trying to make a new genre. And all the rest is just trying to make the same dubstep/dungeon/trap track that everyone's already heard before!

Yep. Its like Rockband. But more realistic. They way many people approach production makes that analogy feel very real to me.

Re: How many of yall are trying to create a different genre
Every song I make is a new different genre. In one week I could keep pitchfork writing for a decade.
Re: How many of yall are trying to create a different genre
I'm trying to create music instead of make tunes if that makes sense. Make stuff that makes you happy, lifes too short for music that doesnt mean something to you. If it fits in boxes then be glad that djs might play it, and if not then be grateful you are exploring the sides of the rabbit holes.
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget.
Re: How many of yall are trying to create a different genre
I just make tunes. I never consider what style it might fall into.
Re: How many of yall are trying to create a different genre
Besides, everybody knows the best musical shit arises when somebody tries to imitate someone else's sound and miss the mark wildly.

I'm not trying to, it just happens.
Re: How many of yall are trying to create a different genre
Only in my head. I come up with some ideas that really excite me but it seems so tricky to lock down.
You're not only coming up with the musical ideas / arrangements etc that draw influence from both but a new style of mix that reflects this in the best possible way and for it to capture both audiences the production has to be top of it's game to appeal to as many as possible.
I overthink this which is why it stays just in my brain

Re: How many of yall are trying to create a different genre
I think I know where I'm going with it, but that goal sound is a mix of things. Just trying to make stuff I want to hear really. I know genre labels have their uses but I think there's too much of a danger of limiting the creativity, just making stuff that sounds like all the rest...
Feedback wanted.

Re: How many of yall are trying to create a different genre
i'm not experienced or creative enough to create new sounds or genres. i just copy established producers and existing tracks, thinking firmly inside the box.

Re: How many of yall are trying to create a different genre
I cut my toenails the other day and found a new genre under my toe nail.
Re: How many of yall are trying to create a different genre
I kinda feel like if your goal is to create a new genre you should stop it because you are dumb. Dumb as a pile of shit.
