Re: I wanna talk monitors again
$50 bucks off for owners of the monitors according to their facebook. so $25 each. that drops it into the realm of reason for me, and after owning these monitors i'm willing to try anything this company puts out. as with the monitors there is a solid return policy..pretty sure i won't be returning them.

Re: I wanna talk monitors again
That seems reasonable yeah. You can get much cheaper foam though but equator seem really nice, the return policy is a plus. Totally getting monitor stands and treatment after the monitors.
Problem is, I don't even know what problems I have in my room that need to be fixed? I did the pink noise test and the sine test and I have absolutely no idea about anything (did it with my ears only, don't have access to a testing mic). No idea what I need.
Ofc some room reverb but that's easier to fix than resonances and peaks.

Which audio interface do I need for these monitors?
Morning DSF, I'm investing in some Studio Monitors.
I am buying a pair of M-Audio BX8 D2 costing £250, sadly I'm on a tight budget, I am aware that I need an audio interface in order to effectively use these monitors, my question is... What is the cheapest possible option? I don't need a fancy £150 Traktor audio interface, I just need something that will be able to connect the monitors into my computer and produce quality sound, For example, would something as simple as this be good enough?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Numark-STEREO-I ... +interface
Any info would be great, thanks a ton!

not sure what outputs that numark has but look you'll need one with 2x 1/4 jack outputs for your monitors

Re: I wanna talk monitors again
Yea that the Equators are goddamn pricey in EU sucks
the lowest price in Hungary is $900, and I image it is gonna be similar when you order it from them and you gotta pay the custom taxes (which here are ridiculusly high). But since the Presonus monitors are available here for a much friendlier price I'm thinking about going for them. I have a pretty small untreated room where they will be used. What do you guys say are they a viable option for me? Has anyone tried them?
Re: I wanna talk monitors again
I dont see anything about a discount. Really want to do treatment. Maybe Ill put a set in my cart and see if the discount comes up when Im logged in ;pdifference wrote:you won't regret it. consider these for a future upgrade if you don't have stands. also consider getting some foam on your walls. equator just released these "sound abatement panels" with francis buckley..i like them but the price point is a little high. still considering getting some because they are cheaper for d5 owners.
the better your initial listening setup is the better your initial mixes will be, once you train your ear. i've had these speakers for a year and i'm just now getting used to them and knowing what to expect on export. enjoy
Not seeing the discount. Did they email us a coupon or something?
EDIT: found the coupon. Wonder if I should get on this deal or if its still kinda pricey at 100 bucks. I havent ever really convinced my girlfriend about hanging these nor do I have a good way to decide where to put them.

Re: I wanna talk monitors again
New information guys!
I'm pretty pissed atm. European price is 4500 SEK, about 700 bucks. I was never going to pay that, it's insane, as the price on the website is 389 bucks.
But it turns out, with shipping and taxes and everything, they're gonna cost me about the same, just a little less. This changes everything, I thought I was paying like 500 max but this is too much, right?
Now, Equators are expensive here, but most other monitors are just as cheap as in the rest of the world.
SHOULD I get a pair of 700 dollar monitors that are actually priced 700 instead? If I'm gonna pay 700 $ I might as well pay for something that's good enough to be priced 700 without shipping and taxes. So what should I get?
OR should I just get these 380 monitors for 700? Sure, most say they're worth more than they cost, but is there really nothing for 700 thats better? Hm. I could even get adams for that price. F5s or A3Xs. And have money over for headphones. Or any 5" monitors really.
I Could get TWO pairs of tannoy reveals, like, wtf.
Help please? Fucking hell, I wish I was in the us.

Purchasing some monitors + audio interface
What up my fellow dubsteppers? Been a while since I've posted on here been busy with University, work, producing, and life. Back to the reason for this post. I'm looking to purchase some Mackie monitors and I've found a fantastic deal for a pair for Mackie MR8 Mk2s but I also had my eye on the newer Mackie MR8 Mk3s.
My question is, is there a major difference between the Mk2s and Mk3s?Would you take the pair of MK2s for about $200 less than a pair of Mk3s? Also would you guys recommend the Mackies or would you go for another pair of speakers within the same price range?
Pushing my luck here but I'm going to ask anyways, which audio interface would you guys recommend to go along with these monitors along the range of $250?
Thank you for your time and input!

jus get some ms16's and skip the audio interface its all good fam
Re: I wanna talk monitors again
do you have any friends in the US? just have someone here order them and ship them to you, i would imagine that's more economic. maybe not though...
if ultimately it's going to end up costing you 700 for just the speakers definitely consider other alternatives.

buy some used ones.
I would give the advice that anyone needs to spend time with their monitors and learn how they sound. That bit is more important than what speakers you end up with. Except if you get reaaaaally shit ones.
I'm fully content with my just less than decent active speakers and have produced for club settings numerous times with no surprises.
Also throw all your headphones in the bin if you want to do this the rest of your life.

Build your own traps and let her pick the fabric design (bearing in mind the acoustic transparency of the fabric and its ability to contain the fibreglass) You could paint cool patterns on canvas or something and tie it into your existing decor.fragments wrote:I havent ever really convinced my girlfriend about hanging these

Am not sure any fabric is going to do a completely sufficient job of catching all glass. And that concerns me very significantly.

My dt990 pros are the main reason why I don't play out or record vocals anymore.
The worst Idea I ever had was getting those for a short period where monitoring would bother neighbours. Like six months or so. Not playing them loud either.

they damaged your hearing?
Re: The Monitor Thread™
yeah unfortunately.
I think it's called ear fatigue and has to do with sound pressure and not what level of volume I was exposed to.
Dont want to sound like a sour puss though just saying
