When I think about it, I cant remember what my first CD was but I can remember going to town when I was like 12 on the train with all my mates to HMV on the highstreet to buy Mambo Number 5 on cassette. Big tune.

I think it may have been Pete Rock and CL Smooth - The Main Ingredient, probably around 2008.

Sick album, I'm gonna put It on now.

It wasn't just the first record I ever bought...
It was the first - thing - I ever bought - consciously...

I remember it - I saw an interview on a video show...
They were talking about their new album in the store...

I looked at the big pig - and then the hammer...I was 7 in 79'
(I'm lying/being poetic about the pig part...I just asked if we could buy it)

If you have a sence of quality at a young age, do you think that is only because of the parents or what?

I've often had this discussion but never got anywhere.

A mate of mine bought me a vinyl copy of this as a housewarming present last year because he knew I was going to buy a record player. One of my favourite albums of all time.

Highway Revisited, Blonde on Blonde and Times they're a changin' are much better tbh.

Uncorrect. Post electric is entirely incomparable tbh, but I'd say it's a tie between Blonde on Blonde and Freewheelin' if I was forced.

The first side of Freewheelin's better than the whole of Times... and you don't even get Don't Think Twice (i.e. arguably the best pop song ever written) until the second side!

If you really want a Dylan-snob dicksizing competition, then I'd probably go for the 1963 Gaslight recordings over just about anything that he released as an album, and either the recording of Ballad of a Thin Man from the 1965 Manchester "Judas" show or Moonshiner from the Gaslight are the best single tracks.

I used to hate Dylan.

Then I listened to Dylan.
