Booh :(

Haven't even noticed this myself, but I use any source of gain as well.
Well I'll just re-record then.

I don't think that is it - this is a little deeper than that. I build elements in maschine, and mix in another daw, and I can't get good mixes out of them. This is one of those things that you notice over time. This is over many beats/songs. Like tracks that start in or are made in maschine just can't get up to the level of stuff that I make in a regular daw. Very likely just me, and the way I relate with it. But I can jump in any daw and get mixes at the same level. It's just maschine. I thought taking stems out of maschine and mixing in another daw would ameliorate, but it doesn't. Confused.

The last bit is what confuses me most too. Because that doesnt seem like its just a matter of "quiet exports" from Maschine. It is some kind of deeper issue.

Ive been with FL Studio since v7. Ive had Maschine for over a year now and I dont ever make tunes w/o these days. And I havent noticed an issue like this--could be a lack of a truely critical mixing ear on my part.

Is there a difference between using it as a VST and in Standalone? I almost exlusively use Maschine in standalone myself.

I wonder if Maschine somehow makes transients "fuzzy" or soft...dunno how else to say what Im saying. Not like compressing them, but...

Yeah, I'm 100% standalone. Should try to use it as a vst, but I guess I can't even do that on my main production rig, as its 32bit xp.

Is there some kind of bitrate emulation like on the MPC Renaissance?

You should import a sample in Maschine, bounce it out, and compare to the original. If they null, you're insane, if not, there's some fuckery afoot.

:a: You are so reductive. Dangerous.

You're a smart guy, pretend I said what you said, find the flaws with your/my reasoning above.

The error being that you're insane regardless and there's always fuckery afoot?

Somebody experience with midi thru boxes?
In the setup I use I only have one machine with midi thru (the octatrack), the others are only in (moog minitaur, tr 707, computer with focusrite and a korg poly800)
I want to use the octatrack as master and sync them all together... I suppose I need a midi splitter.

Someone experience with a splitter or another way to sync everything?
(I was looking at this: http://www.thomann.de/be/midi_solutions_quadra_thru.htm)

I used a Unitor 8, a midi patchbay, for this. Can't even remember how I did that. Yeah splitter sounds about right. What computer software are you using for this?

Ableton. But I don't want it to act like the sequencer, just mainly for triggering some extra samples.
I know that piece of software like the back of my hand and I just want to step away from it for the live/jam part of my production process.

I just bought a Quadra Thru. Couldnt be simpler to use! MIDI Out from Maschine or my interface to the MIDI In on the Quadra, then just attach your gear to the thrus : )

Fucking ace piece of kit.

Put the TR on channel 10. Just out of respect for the fallen ones.

I don't get that?

But it reminds me of another question.. If i want to trigger the samples from the 707 with either ableton or the octatrack. Can I do this?
If so.. Kick drum = C1, Snare drum, D1, ... Am I right?

Probably one or the other. Its only got one in, so wherever that in is coming from, that is where you can trigger from. From what you said, sounded like sequencing was going to be coming from octa.

Not really needing this because I'm going to use the sequencer from the 707 and just sync it with octa's tempo... But still cool to know! It's C2 btw
