Well, the new album is finished, and it's coming out in 10 days;

Its a good thing actually, you can choose how much the effort for this digital release.
It worth the price i suppose, didnt listen to the new LP already but soon will be available.

Yeah i read about this in the metro / londonpaper / free shit i found on the tube, wasn't sure if they were making it up, being as how anti-itunes and downloads Thom seems to be.

Will probably get people to chip in for the 40 quid vinyl / 2 cds / downloads / all sorts of other cool shit package they do for my christmas presents or something. In the meantime will probs download for free.

In other news, anyone got any more info on Thom's remix album coming out? The Bug talked about it on Boomnoise and Pokes, sounds huge.

yip this is cool.

only a band as established as radiohead could do this though, shame because it's a really nice idea.

i prefer thom when his work is remixed. the bug's version of harrdown hill is sick, and the modeselektor track he's in is tremendous as well.....

I wasn't feeling it that much really, i dunno the vocal just didn't seem to work that well. The Modeselektor remix of Skip Divided is bloody brilliant, Various' version of Analyse is nasty, and Surgeon's remix of The Clock is good too. Kinda hope they are on it, but i do wanna hear other versions of them. I wanna know what track Burial is remixing.

Thing is, with potentially free downloads i can imagine this will do pretty well in the charts, i would grab a (legal) free download just to check it out even if i wasn't a fan. And it would be nice to have people who actually make interesting rock music on daytime radio.

I'm sure there'll be some sort of clause that stops the downloads counting towards any official chart. Radiohead aren't an 'offical' seller or something like that. Don't think the record industry will let anyone roll into the charts without lining their pockets to some degree.

It would be nice if I'm wrong though.

I reckon in the grand order of things, I have gained more than my fair share of pleasure from the 60-70 quid I've spent so far on Radiohead records, so I figure I can spare at least a fiver for them...

^ I think you're right - I'm sure the record industry will find some way for this to not count in the charts, cos I'm sure it will "sell" so many more copies than most charting albums the week it comes out (taking into account pre-ordering and that)

I think you are. They're self-releasing it, it should make any difference how much they charge, it should still chart.

Yeah it screws the idea of a sales-based chart system up, but remember, the band will hardly be coming out on top either.

The record charts are only collected from certain sites, iTunes, HMV Online, Coca-Cola Music, all the big players. Don't even think the smaller, more respectable, but equally capitalist ones like Beatport and Bleep get a look in, so I seriously doubt that Radiohead's self released album will get charted.

"For a normal CD the dealer price is around £9. The record company gets 25 percent, leaving £6.75. I've heard artists get 18 percent of that, which is £1.215. So I'll pay £1.22."

first impressions for me is there is some truly excellent music on here but as an album its maybe not so cohesive as they've done before.

listening to it now. haven't really cared much for radiohead since KidA... Amnesiac and Hail to the Thief were just ok for my taste.

Great to finally hear "Nude" recorded (aka Big Ideas). Heard them play that in like 1998 in NYC.

I paid £1 with a view to possibly getting the boxed set thing if I liked it. Not sure at the moment if I'm willing to fork out £40 though. I think I'll have to give it a few more listens to decide. The first track D'n'Biness is a bit odd to me though.

on 1st listen i like it.

Videotape is a great tune..... not sure what i think of the drums though. they may grow on me.
