I can understand the appeal of whore and drugs but even Scorsese can't pull off a 3hr feature with that alone, sorry

I've decided - At the suggestion of myself...
to continue that - pick a director and watch all of their films thing...

So I'm on Hitchcock...seen "Strangers on a Train" + "Psycho"

Done "The Birds" last night - "Spellbound" and "Vertigo" in the days previous...

I have been happy with all of them so far...Hitchcock is solid.

I also watched "Chinatown" - very good film.

I'm getting a lot of that - old hollywood, noir style thing right now...

That you can throw the second hour in the bin, keep the first and third one, and no one would notice. If anything it would make the film better

Thought James McAvoy was brilliant. The film itself was bizarre but I kind of enjoyed it. 7/10

I Dream Of Wires

Nerdy as fuck 4hr documentary on the history of modular synthesis. If you've got more than a passing interest, can't recommend it enough. But if you're of the thinking that modular synth guys are socially inept pasty motherfuckers, it won't do anything to change your mind.

Kick-ass is on at the moment. Seriously, this is meant to be good? This is the film I've heard people raving about?

Watched
her
I enjoyed it, set design and cinematography are second to non but I expected high quality in them areas from Spike Jonze and it has his usual warmth and charm.

Are you saying that's the point of it, or just that I've got it wrong in thinking people rate it?

It was just embarrassing.

Sound City

Documentary about a recording studio narrated by Dave Grohl. Intersting.

I Dream Of Wires

4hr documentary on history of modular synths. Would recommend, proper nerdy in places.

Image
Wall Street

80s classic. Less cocaine than later interpretations would have you believe. Had no idea Dr Cox was in it. The one from Scrubs, not the smug tnuc one.

Its not that bad, I think it was well recived as it was fresh compared to alot of superhero stuff at the time.
This is the superior fucked up super hero film though.

It was terrible. Bad acting, bad story, not funny, not engaging at all. Just doesn't seem to have any idea what it is trying to be/do. And the music, fuck, that's got to be the worst soundtrack I've heard in a while. That little girl says tnuc though.

Not seen super. I don't think I'll risk a similar experience.

2/10

Watched the Black Dahlia. Entertaining in parts, some patchy acting but a good idea. More tacky music (seem weird Mark Isham did that wonderful Crash score as well as this) and generally just being miscast dragged the score down a bit.

5/10
