Right.

And they sent you to a boarding school, which by it's nature is both controlling and prohibitive, which caused you to rebel by experimenting with drugs at such a young age...and we've gone full circle.

st. paul's is hardly controlling and prohibitive. the motto was "freedom with responsibility" I honestly don't think there was any rebellion involved in my experimentation, more curiosity.

There is a time for the hands off. For boys - should start to phase out around 18, and really let off around 21, when a man's prefrontal cortex stands a fighting chance.

There is no way in hell I'd let my 15 y.o. do dmt. I'd sit her on top of the north pole if I had to, at least until her brain was put together. If later, in her 20's, she wanted to do it, I wouldn't mind being her sitter.

Right.

And from their Community Living page;
Everyone lives here. Yes, St. Paul's is one of very few boarding schools in the country with no day students – all students and faculty live on campus.
When you check into your house at night, a faculty adviser or the head of house welcomes you and asks about your evening.
Dorm life includes everything from Friday-night pizza feeds to watching movies in the common room to interacting with the faculty families who live in the apartments attached to your house.
Or is having to check into your house not considered controlling?

I don't know any household with kids my age that doesnt have a curfew. That's no different than living at home.

your call nowaysj. I don't think we really know enough about DMT's mechanism of action and its effect on brain chemistry to judge whether or not its safe for a developing brain. But we do know that despite its earth-shattering visionary effects, it's indigenous to the human brain, in the pineal gland. and there's research to show that the brain releases it during meditation, religious experiences, and even dreams. So if n-n-dimethyltryptamine is actually released by your brain on a regular basis, why is introducing such a simple chemical (only 2 steps away from tryptophan) into the brain so dangerous?

That is a silly question, bro. There are a whole assortment of 'natural' chemicals released by your brain, into your brain, that you wouldn't want to have in high concentrations.

lol what a stupid thing to say, the body has a natural supply of adrenaline but if you inject yourself with too much your heart pops. Just because your body has a certain chemical doesn't mean its safe to add more. The fact that a drug is only '2 steps' away, whatever that means, from a safe one again does not make it safe. Please learn about chemistry/pharmacology before talking about this shit cos ur just talking out ur arse.

I have nothing against 15 year olds doing mushrooms, I did them at 14 I think. Native Americans sent their kids off to find peyote at 13

maybe they could be healing and helpful in a therapy session or something. but every psychedelic drug i have tried (acid, amt, ketamine (k hole) salvia ect) have all just confused me and blown my brain out of the side of my head. Except for in the k hole, where i recently met a faceless monk in a giant amphitheatre. He told me in a deep booming voice some gibberish that i found oddly compelling. That wasnt particularly boggling so much as strange, the scenes you experience under the influence of k if you do it right are quiet astonishing although often (i have found) quiet dark and scary.
Acid just confuses the tits off me. i still dont get it.

Entheogens like DMT (more importantly, dmt-containing brews like ayahuasca with enzymes like harmine that allow it to last for hours), psilocybin, and iboga all have incredible medical and therapeutic potential.

If the majority of the world could just get its head out of its ass and get over the ridiculously pseudo-scientific post-Leary era drug war hysteria and allow for more research into these ancient shamanic tools, there would be no way to argue with their potential. I partially subscribe to McKenna's "Food of the Gods" argument that entheogens are the key to solving a lot of the world's issues. Can we just get over all this useless social stigma and nurture intelligent conversations about psychedelics?

If I had the time to research DMT use in south America, I'd answer your tangential question. However, there is definitely a cultural use of some kind of vine-like plant or something that may be related to Ayahuasca that is actually often given to children, even in modern societies. The Brazilian government actually found a reduced level of mental health problems amongst users and their survey of its use showed nothing but positive vibes they resolutely decided against criminalising it.
