But Wiley came up with the solution...naming it after himself

Yeah big up Jesus for dying for our sins and netting us a public holiday in the process.

Also, hot cross buns.

right, but for a time it was called all kinds of stuff... sublow, 8bar, etc. there are those beautiful times when music is raw and everyone is calling it different names... that's the time that most excites me about music, before everyone gets stuffy and says this is this and that is that

it must be really exciting when something's that new and good that scenes are buzzing around different obscure names for it

funny to think that was, and forgive me for the basement tapes some of you mate have laying around.
one of the first grime tracks. really, at least to my knowledge.

really think this one would freeze a crowd @ the right time...

drum machine nerd alert: i've heard 707 sounds in quite a lot of recent bass releases (helix drum track, pearson sound auntie flo remix, loads more just listen to any numbers/hessle rinse podcast). mebbe another new trend?
detroit techno is just getting popular again and it was all about the 707.
yeah thats def true - also noticed older chicago stuff cropping up in folks mixes. chicago stuff like larry heard, adonis and marshall jefferson used to use the 707 a lot as well.

next all the bass producers will be using the linndrum

^^ Yeah, IMO, Wut sounded like it was its own thing rather than dubstep. I'd consider the rise of brostep to be more of a shotgun blast to the knee of the genre.

I kinda liked the tune, especially when it nearly destroyed my sub. What this tune had to do with the dead of the dubstep scene is to me unknown.

can't believe it took 5 pages of this debate about 808 music and the impact on dubstep to mention addison groove

I found it when i typed "Girl Unit Wut review" into Google because I was curious how it was received at the time as i haven't been listening to dance music when it came out, in fact never even heard it in a club.

I didn't mind it when it came out cos
the backbeat & variation saved it,
making it swayable but undanceable.

basically the pallette is shit apart from the organ
(particularly the Girl Eunuch intro)

it was Joker's gaymboy synth's that prepared me for this
however, if you reckon the original is crook,
try listening to the ISLAND edit's random drum overlay
or prociag's remixing it with naff wub wub
