What do you mean "in shape"? Are you chubby? Do you want to take off weight?
Maybe you want build muscles? Choose one.

Not really chubby, kinda just wanna shape up (starting to get more round in my chest) and also build some muscle but that's kinda more secondary. So get in shape first then build muscle I suppose

If you do cardio in one day with strength problem is you tired to strength exercises, and cant do it in full force.
Otherwise if you do cardio in other day: running at street for 20min will be enough.
Ellipsoids and bicycles are only nurture your ass,lol

Not really. During my american football season I have to combine them. I have to at least maintain the level of strength I got to in the off-season and increase and then maintain my fitness. I'm pretty sure thousands of NFL players (and other athletes) combine the two every year.

I thought you may have had some sort of scientific explanation rather than stating the obvious.

Generally, cardio (actual cardio, not just a warm-up) on the same day or during the same workout session as resistance training isn't ideal. It's not impossible, but it will hinder your recovery somewhat if done after, or tire you out if done before.
But that's general bodybuilding/strength training guidelines. I could see it being different for supplementary training for a particular sport.

Running is much harder on yoru recovery, especially legs, than bikes are. The muscle you're training with cardio is your heart anyway. Your heart doesn't care if it gets a workout running outside or on a cardio bike.
