I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MINNIE RIPERTON!!! Heard the Coki refix on Dubstep Allstarts vol. 5 and love it. You can´t hate the vocal - Minnie was one of the most amasing soul singers of all time! :)

Love Coki´s idea, and I don´t think he would credit it himself as his own production. It´s a refix or whatever you call it. Not a mash-up (as far as I can tell it´s his own beats, not full tune mixed with Minnie Riperton´s tune). Brilliant idea and nice of N-Type to include it in the mix. This is what I love about Dubstep, and is the same thing I loved about early Hardcore and especially Jungle: Mix it all up and then add b-a-s-s!

Bless and R.I.P Minnie Riperton, and big up Coki!

As much as I rate the original Richie Spice Marijuana track (that is a LOT) I soon got over the excitement of the Coki refix... don't get me wrong, it's a hot sound but didn't anyone notice there is literally NO progression... ANYWHERE in the song, apart from the lyrics :S? It's a similar story here...

HOWEVER
Like N-type says, this is DEFINITELY the kind of tune, alongside Marijuana, which will add a lot of colour and variety to a mix and the lack of progression won't grate because it'll be in and out of the mix too quickly. I think it sounds awesome in Dubstep Allstars 5 (my favourite yet) and mixing it into Punks is perfect as that track is sexy as fuck.

It's very much a weapon (however paradoxical that might seem given the lyrics) perhaps really a tool. It's not likely to get a big release on wax... I should think.. beacuse it's not really developed enough and doesn't stand up so well as an individual riddim.. but in a mix they can be deadly.

I love it. Original is a classic and I don't think it's a smear on my masculinity to say I like a good singalong. When I first heard it, I thought the 'lovin' you' vocal would just be looped and didn't see how most of the song could work, but to me it worked - especially on N-Type's mix when the next track drops.

Jill Scott next please! (Just for my own personal listening pleasure if it's too gay for everyone)

love the tune, first heard it on a ntype show way back when and was like "YES!!" i think it adds a much needed element of sillyness to our music... its fucking hillarious! if i remember correctly he mixed droid's "cyberman" out of it and it sounded ILL!!!

No.1 - Minnie is a class act, her anthology album is a must own!

No.2 - I think the sample works well, and admire coki's willingness to give this a go.

No.3 - ANY RELEASE LIKELY?

I dont really care wot people think, I just do what I like. If you like it then cool if not then cool, I dont give a ballbag! Im cool either way.

It wasnt a tune you could drop at every rave. It had to fit in to the feel of the time that it was dropped, eg out of the right tune etc. Some raves I knew the crowd wanted it dark and dirty so i would leave it in the bag but other raves (like FWD>> where u can be experimetal) Id drop it!

You could do sick mixes with it to! and it gave a space between bassline rinse outs! and create impact on the next tune!

I like tunes that create disscussion! I knew it would get a mixed reponse, it was one of those quirky tunes that added character! It also made people from other genres say 'Wow! who made this? whats this music?'

Thats why i thought it deserved a place on Dubstep Allstars cos its different and diverse!

What some people dont like others will love.

I like it that producers are trying out new things!!! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on this and anything else but I never what producers to stop being creative cos someone says...

"blah blah blah its got to have beats like this, or bass like that, or you cant do this you cant do that..."

I love creativitiy! If it sound good its good!

Big up Coki everytime! Heavy producer!
Yes N-Type you know.. Ruff Lovin is fuckin sik, a proper Skankalicious floaty vibe. I first heard it on your Allstars Vol5. My mum even thought it was a nice tune too, abviously coz all mums know of the original. I even asked you on 1 of ur shows if it was gettin a release. you said only on dub  .. Anyway Big up urself N-Type for mixin it so crisp with ju ju punks on Allstars5. Out to coki too on production bumberclart badman :D

I'm a bit late on this, 'cause I got the N-Type CD so late. But I think this tune is absolutely stunning. Wasn't really impressed at first but it grew so much on me.

Hope Minnie is skanking to this in Heaven :U:
