Just a side note, in listening to your toons, and my toons for that matter, we both make a wide variety of stuff, but each of us, in our own way, have, or are beginning to have a consistent sound (which is non-sonic). You know what I'm saying? It is there. The voice is emerging.

I don't know what conditions have brought you to where you are, I feel a lot of tension from you in relation to this issue, this pop issue.

Dude, we are SOCIAL animals. It is what we are, what allowed us to run the show here on this planet, right? What is the biggest punishment in a prison - solitary confinement. Removing the person from the social web. I mean prison itself is a removal from society, but solitary is removal of the person from even the social web of criminals.

So yeah, we all want that recognition, but some of us are willing to do more or less to receive it. It's a spectrum. Some are whores, and just do what they think other people want, others are like stones, doing their own thing, hoping everyone will come to them. I'm in the later category for whatever defect of character. It is really lonely. I've just got to, only really can do my own thing, just wish people would find it interesting. Maybe if I was any good at it, my thing?

@LTUK/Demain: ha! had totally forgotten this was your nick on dsf, great to see you here man! nice use of that vocal sample. i agree with the comment on the fact that the snare could hit a bit harder. also, at the risk of sounding anal, seems to me your instrumental and the 2pac accapella are in two different scales, it' not that it's really dissonant, but try to pitch the accapella 2 semitones down, see if it sounds better. btw that heathfield tune is quite something too man

Hey man, yeah I thought I'd try get involved, finding it difficult to get tunes out at the moment so any motivation is good! Haha, you have damn good ears! I had a go at pitching the acapella before, but with limited sucess. 2 semitones is spot on i think Aha, yeah that ones still very much in the works, wish i had access to a piano again :s

I distrust those people that are like totally focused on one thing. They're like 'professionals'. I think their musical inspiration/love takes a back seat to their 'professionalism'. Maybe, maybe they're just really really into one thing?

Just sped read (past tense of speed read?) this convo. I dont know how people zero in on making tunes in a narrow niche like
"micro tech house" or something for their whole lives. Like these cats that have been pumping out Drum and Bass for a decade. And not to hate on anyone that has made a career of it...but lets be honest and recognize a lot of the pro output is quite samey, just the nature of the beast (if I am being somewhat reductive so be it). I dont know how you do that over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over...ad infinitum

Variety is the spice of life. I think the beauty of music being my hobby is that I am beholding to no one if I suddenly decide to start making lollicore tunes for a couple years : )

And I agree with what nowaysj said about how one can maintain and cultivate a voice while working on different genres/projects/sounds.
