Berlin/Bayreuth based Clerk [Shadowforces/Shadowdub] steps up for the UKB014 with this bass-heavy jungle mix.
Clerk a producer/DJ from Germany who alongside founder Species (@species) runs the Shadowforces label (http://www.shadowforces.de/) based in Berlin. Their aim was, and will always be, to put out music by talented people with or without a name in the scene, that fits the Shadowforces vibe.
Clerk met Species in a local record store called Coast2Coast back in 2004 in Bayreuth. They found out that they were on the same wavelength sound-wise and hooked up immediately.
It took a while, Species moved to Berlin, but in 2009 they released the first vinyl release called "ON" - the switch that started the label engine. Now in 2013, they have a solid back catalodue of tunes as well as a new born sister label called "Shadowdub" for the deep & dark end of dubstep.
The future is looking bright with a plenty of fresh material to release in 2014.

UKB Guest Mix #15 - Marcel Heese (recorded live @ Tresor) [U

Our 15th mix of the UKB series, is something a little different in a few respects from Tresor resident, Marcel Heese.
This 75 minute mix was recorded live during Marcel's performance at techno mecca Tresor in late 2013 as part of the 'BerMuDa' club festival, where he alongside fellow Tresor resident 'TAG', supported Cari Lekebusch.
Having first seen Marcel perform in Edinburgh in 2012 at Studio 24 at one of the earlier 'Unseen' nights, I was very happy when he agreed to provide this exclusive recording of his mix for UKB. Extra atmosphere in this one with occasional noise from a fervent Tresor crowd.
2014 will see the start of his own record label Finitude which kicks off with a release from PMH (P.E.A.R.L. & Marcel Heese). Right now he is working on various other projects and collaborations.

The next instalment of the series comes from German DJ & producer TWISTED [Dutty Dubz, Wheel & Deal Records, Paradise Lost Recordings, RuFFM, Radio X 91.8 FM, Tsunami Audio, Heavy Artillery, Trackdonalds, 2nd Drop ...]. Outstanding stuff we think – a dubstep and drum & bass two-parter!
Twisted is a member of International dubstep collective Dutty Dubz. He began his foray into the world of DJ’ing in ‘93 through his love of drum & bass.
In ‘03 he made the logical progression to making his own music, before deciding to slow the tempo and up the bass in ‘06. That same year Dutty Dubz was born and has been progressing ever since, representing Dubstep in a big way.
Twisted has released tracks on a number of labels demonstrating his significant output over the years. Wheel&Deal, 2nd Drop, Off Road, Soul Shakerz, Dub Bullet, Rottun, Trackdonalds, R8, Heavy Artillery, Redvolume, Aeclectrick, Stoke Audio, Paradise Lost, Scrub a Dub, Tsunami Audio, Prime Audio & Scarcity Records have all seen tracks from him.

UKB018 brings to your ears the sound of yet another solid Berlin based DJ and producer, Stefan Mint. His style is characterised by deep progressive sounds, playful melodies and synth-driven Deep/Tech House tracks that fit perfectly with the labels with which he is associated; DANTZE and Crossfrontier Audio.
No stranger to the Berlin scene Stefan’s been at the controls in city favourites like Watergate, Kater Holzig, Prince Charles and Ritter Butzke and played alongside the likes of Oliver Koletzki, Adam Beyer and Edu Imbernon.

His style is characterised by deep progressive sounds, playful melodies and synth-driven Deep/Tech House tracks that fit perfectly with the labels with which he is associated; DANTZE and Crossfrontier Audio.
No stranger to the Berlin scene Stefan’s been at the controls in city favourites like Watergate, Kater Holzig, Prince Charles and Ritter Butzke and played alongside the likes of Oliver Koletzki, Adam Beyer and Edu Imbernon.

UKB019 – Pasch
Urban Kultur edges towards another landmark with a relentless heavy drum and bass mix from Pasch [Bold, Nachtbebem, Urban Breaks] – part of the RuFFM and X-Fade radio show crews in Germany. In addition to being a highly respected DJ, Pasch is the German head for Breaks and Drum and Bass at Mixmag Germany.
For nearly 10 years he has played in the clubs of his native Frankfurt. However, cities as far flung as Rio De Janeiro have heard his multigenre and bassy sets. Full of variety, Pasch has been able to display his talent by playing alongside acts like Commix, Klute, John B, BlackSunEmpire, Dub Phizix, ChrisSu and Optiv.
His trademark is tight mixing, rapid tempo switchover with an unerring selection of bassmusic, all of which are in full flow for UKB019.
The native Hessian holds down residences in Frankfurt at the Nachtbeben, Urban Breaks and the newly announced Bold parties at the infamous Tanzhaus West venue.

Back where it all began…
Boyfrmspace, who back in early 2012 recorded the very first of the series [UKB001] Urban-kultur-blog – Urban-kultur-blog-guest-mix-1, now returns for the 20th to bring it back home and set the standard for the next round of podcasts.
Since February 2012 has been refining his sound, most recently evident in his mix for Hypnotic Groove Hypno_groove – Boyfrmspacemix12
With this blistering 30 minute mix for Urban Kultur, he packs in a tight selection with a number of standout tracks and some solid bass throughout. This goes off from the very start and doesn't let up!
With a deep knowledge of the many strands of the Berlin scene, 2014 looks to be the year Boyfrmspace introduces something of his own to the equation. With initial groundwork in place for an event, he looks set to be offering a UK-centric sound to the city in the not to distant future.
I’m sure it’ll pay to be in the know – keep your ear to the ground by checking back on UKB for info.
