Wait wait wait...
What if...
Rust is framing himself because he infiltrated the cult unofficially (too many ties with politics / Police buried the case after 2002) and wants to destroy them not as a police officer but as a co-criminal ? Contemplating his own crucifixion...

Re: True Detective [HBO] (spoilers)
I reckon he is undercover and with the 'Big People' that know about the Yellow King, he knew that having a wife or close friends would onyl result in tragedy, so turned himself into this drinking machine that reminds me of Budd from Kill Bill.
Because he's aware that even coppers might be in on it somehow, he's testing the detectives interviewing him as well, thus the 'Time is a flat Circle' quotes and the beer-can men he cut, although I'm not sure about their reference yet. We'll find out

I did like them, just not verbally. I've definitely got a man-crush on him at the minute.gwa wrote:Dead Rats wrote:wuts going on?

I just speak 2 Bandy on Aim, usually, I think he is indeed on dissensus, as well, tho, as Phigure said.
...and holy fuck, just finished ep. 5, this shit is crazi...THIS SHIT IS CRAZI. It's pretty much on that Breaking Bad level of steadily rising already, and the first season ain't even ova.

That was so, SO dark. I had goosebumpsIf you get the opportunity you should kill yourself
Also Rust got the best handful of booty I've ever seen on television

loving the mythology, a few bits related to Robert Chambers, like the King in Yellow and people mentioning Carcosa
Song of my soul, my voice is dead,
Die thou, unsung, as tears unshed
Shall dry and die in
Lost Carcosa
Re: True Detective [HBO] (spoilers)
Ah man. What? I dunno. I thought it was more like the first 3, which I guess were slower, but just about the best episodes of anything I've ever seen.Markey wrote:I found it a little slow?

Sooooooo
lawnmower guy is involved. Didn't foreshadow the whole family affair thing though
I still think Marty's daughter was subjected to the cult, maybe they're keeping that for ep.8, possibly preceding another Marty freakout & killing.
I also think Rust's dying, maybe cancer. He came back because he just couldn't get this out of his head and felt he had to put an end to the cult before dying.
