@f8fabe - thanks for that mate :)

Got an update there now, more atmospherics in the intro, a better drum arrangement there, and introduced a nice dark melodic hook :)

Too many open hihats and crashes in my opinion, maybe try to fill the space with some closed hh with less reverb? I liked the snare and the wobble, the Mario samples start to get annoying after a while though, maybe there's too many of them

@F8fabe - yeah I agree, too many nintendo sounds. I'd be using them as incidentals rather than regular stabs. I also think your sub needs a bit more volume. I'd also lower the volume of those mids, they're a bit too loud. Eq in general though sounds pretty good.

Like the atmosphere in this! The only thing i think you should swap out and change is the kick. Its too light and fluffy for the tune. Throw something hard and heavy :Q:

Like the main bass but imo opinion the tune needs more variation. Layer some other synths around it or add a bit more reverb to the Mario hits and the drums to space it out more. The way you arranged the Mario samples was smooth.
-----------------

Been working my butt off this last week on my first tune! There were lots of times when I wanted to trash the project and push off making a full track another time.... but after justing messing around and adding more and more stuff to my original 4 bar loop I think i got the structure for something okay sounding for my first official track.

Im so clueless to what im doing honestly, im surprised i got this far of a track by myself. One thing im really proud of is how i chopped up the samples and made smooth transisiton between some of the hits. Also liking how well my kick and snare are punching at the moment. Any ideas what i should do specifically in it to add variation or pointers.

The tracks main samples are from an old 1930's swing song. I chopped up some band bits and pieces i liked and at the end some of vocals but I dont know what else to add? Sounds nice but there needs to more variation imo and im not sure how will I lead to a "drop" and throw in some crazy funky bass's for a glitchhop/neurohop tune.

Thanks guys :D , just need some fresh ears and a new opinions on it!

@R3b - Pretty cool start. You should work on the levels of your drums during the different parts, tone down the crash and you should quantize them a bit (they sound off). The white noise transitions needs some work as well...

@F8Fabe - Cool playful dubstep! Dope sound... Could be cool to have more intricate drums maybe, to get more groove.

@dotcurrency - Great tune! Bouncy and sweet... The only thing I think that you could work on is the main synth on the drop, make it "wider" and maybe tone down on the crashes. And maybe work on a more choppy hook to get it more poppin'.

Here is something a friend and I did this week... The "synth" or the thing that is providing the melody is a sample chop of the vox, if you have any idea on how to make that stuff sound sweeter it'd be much appreciated as well as if we should add some pad?

@alexcunningham Love the bass melody, after 1.10 I'd say the vocals get a bit too loud and in your face, i'd quieten them down a bit. Great percussion, carries the track nicely.

@r3h It starts off really well, but then the chopped samples kind of start to drag a bit, you need to bring that breakdown in eariler and for the drop try NI razor for some decent glitchhoppy bass sounds.

@fabe Quality mate, not a massive fan of dubstep anymore, but I really like this. I'd just work on those high frequencies, sounding a bit harsh!

Made this last night, be cool to hear a second opinion and what be added etc!

@r3b_official good use of sampling, provides you with a unique sound, the crackles accompany it well. I would say the drums are quite boring though and the hits used don't compliment the sampling, particularly the snare! but i do like how you've arranged the main melody.

@alexandercunningham i think a pad is a must, the space is there to be filled and carry over some feel that the chopped vocal and synth provides. The vocal sample saying "heaven" (i think?) sounds like its in an empty room, try and fill it. Other than that there are some really nice sounds and i'm enjoying listening to it :)

@LukeRaith like the general vibe of this one, would recommend adding the shakers from 1:19 onwards to the intro as it lacks groove and swing without them. Then add in something extra at 1:19.. Would also like to hear some sort of melody running through it as it sounds to me more like an outro than the main section of the tune! Other than that I enjoyed it, loved the pads and smooth sub.

Here's a tune I finished the other day, it's supposed to be deep and somewhat preternatural as the title would suggest but obviously my imagination is held back by my ability to use VST's and such.. Any feedback would go a long way so appreciate anyone that can provide any. Cheers! :)

@nameless Great tune mate, love the rinsey sounds you're using, you switch them up nicely on the second drop and keeps it fresh. Only thing I can add is maybe you should add another sound in at 2:03 to carry it through, a string would sound nice or maybe a 909 hi hat on the 1.2 and 1.4 between the kick and clap to add a grove. I'd add a bit more low end to the clap, but i can't tell for sure if it needs it using my headphones! Also maybe chop 32 bars out of that second bit too.

I've just made this, a bit sly posting two feedback tunes around the same time but this threads died down a lot to be fair! Be great to hear some feedback on it.

luke (dg) - wow interesting vibe on this one. can't really think of much constructive criticism, the kick could use a tad bit more low end before the bass drops and the claps could use a bit more reverb- but that's just my ears idk. very cool sound

nameless - heavy as fuck, nice. idk i think it could use a little more melodic content. the rhythm is perfect just needs a little something do complement that synth riff you got there. like maybe the guitar thing in the breakdown could work with the drop... nice work

luke (1-1) - good start but as you can see by the waveform the first set of bars are a little static, not sure but I think you could use more velocity changes/ another element like an opening filter to liven it up a bit in the intro. really digging this during the second drop though

alexander- love this style of music, very xxyyxx. I think the vocal synth chop is a little too far back in the mix. less reverb or parallel reverb would sound better i think. Also if you're looking for something to process the vocals, take a look at WOW filter's presets, it's usually good for that kind of thing

I really like this. Happy/ good vibes. Good tempo.
Maybe try to add a few more layers, not too much, but something in the mid range, like a saw synth to add a little drive. I think it's a cool idea.

I would really like some feedback on this track, as it is "almost" finished in structure. But the mixing is far from complete. I would like the drums to pop more. and maybe modify the synth (reese) content to flow better, but another set of ears might help me see what i need to improve beyond that. So please, any comments or criticisms are appreciated.

@OcenaAires

Damn man this is tight! I love how the melodic elements blend with the more neuro-ey ones, but maybe add more some more atmospherics throughout the track to help pad it a bit.

Neurofunk WIP:

Some Billain inspired neurofunk, still need to do a proper mixdown atm.

Been experimenting with 3/4 timings - two songs to listen to :)

Mthrfnk – love your signature track. Very well mixed, melodies all work well together and it creates a good sense of anticipations before the drop. Drop itself is very nice, I only don’t like the automated bit reduction before the drop – that threw me a bit

Dotcurrency – I really like the hippidy hoppidy kind of vibe. I think all the melodies work really well. Do you have the vocal sidechained to the kick? That is throwing me a little.. Don’t think it needs that. Sidechain to melody / chords is good though. The really fast arps need to sit further back in the mix over on these laptop speakers. Overall – love it!

Misch – Intro is very epic, love it right from the start. All the sounds are dark and work together very well. Love the drop – reminds me of some of the metal breakdowns I used to love

F8Fabe – I like how the drums are mixed. Sounds very solid and EQ’d nicely. There needs to be more of a build up I think and the bass is too metallic – doesn’t take up enough of the frequency spectrum seeing as there’s little else apart from drums. Nice idea though!

F8Fabe – Fire Flower – Love the 8 bit vibe ☺ This is really fun – reminds me of the Caspa and Rusko days when everything had a bit of comedy about it.

R3b_Official – I like to woody sounding snare and the old school samples working their way in. I imagine this is in very early stages of development. I do like where it could go but it needs to be more tuneful in my opinion and the drums need more variety

Alexandercunningham – I like the bold reverbed voice and the clap is very nice. I love the drop!!! Needs a bit less reverb though. I love the hi hats that drop in around 1.20. Overall – very nice idea!

LukeRaith – I really like the drums in this – very good groove. Breakdown is sounding nice. Reminds of the current crop of garage which is doing the rounds in the UK. Very nice.

Nameless – I love the main melody in this – very nice. Intro is well mixed too. Drop is very well mixed and I love the ripping bass sound. Great stuff

Mtl6 – I really like the musical idea of this. I can imagine a nice vocal sitting on top of it… You have a talent for creating great, flowing song structure – I am jealous!

OceanAires – I love the vibe of this. Very reverby and beautiful! Great song structure and the ideas fit together very well. I must admit the drop took me off balance a little… I think the bass needs to be louder if that’s the idea you’re going for. It’s maybe a little too hectic.. Overall very nice

Sorry mate, I'll try to post more as i can.
But as far as your track goes, I dig the vibes. Very minimal beats and smooth rhythms, wouldn't mind hearing the finished product once completed.
