Re: Rob Ford drops a dope beat
For the first time in decades the city is generating a surplus, new subways are being built, taxes are lower or frozen in most areas. Eliminated 2 weird annoying taxes completely and the property tax rates have only increased by 1.75% when the projected increase was close to 3 or 4% initially to balance budget all while improving services to the city and saving the city just over 60 million dollars by privatizing garbage collection.ehbrums1 wrote:how is he as a mayor tho?
He is also one of the few mayors to not steal public money from the city ever so far.
***edit: He apparently has saved the city in total over a billion dollars
According to him, the savings are as follows:
$200-million from cancelling the vehicle-registration tax.
$6.4-million from cutting expense budgets of city councillors and the mayor’s office.
$78-million from contracting out garbage collection west of Yonge Street.
$606-million from various “efficiencies” ($57-million in the 2011 budget, $327-million in 2012 and $222-million in 2013).
$89-million from a streamlined labour contract with city employees.
$24-million from higher user fees.

Although he is a notorious drunk with a drug problem.. but in reality most people can relate to guy that likes his beer and parties tbh which is why I anticipate him doing well in the upcoming election.
