Re: things that have made you happy today
just worked out im probably only a few months away from paying back my student loan
can finally start putting money into savings rather than debt. will feel good man (i assume)
Re: things that have made you happy today
And when that savings is taken because a gambling bank is insolvent, it will feel bad.
Re: things that have made you happy today
I'm amazed you ever find the motivation to leave the house.

£50k of savings is protected by the government, so unless you've got over £50k in savings in one bank, then it wouldn't be an issue.nowaysj wrote:And when that savings is taken because a gambling bank is insolvent, it will feel bad.
Re: things that have made you happy today
Haha, and if the government is the one taking it?
And M, who says I leave the house?

That wasn't the issue you brought up though...nowaysj wrote:Haha, and if the government is the one taking it?
Re: things that have made you happy today
It will be though. A bank's insolvency will have national implications, so the money will be confiscated. You'll get bonds though, or some other paper assurances.
Re: things that have made you happy today
Nope. Under £1000 and you get a letter you just have to take to the post office, and they'll give you money. Over £1000 and you get a cheque.nowaysj wrote:It will be though. Actually covered up to £85,000 and £170,000 in joint accounts.
inb4 you tell me that the government are probably lying and waiting to steal all our jewels
Re: things that have made you happy today
You believe in the guarantees of your government, I get it. Enjoy. I don't have to suffer the consequences of that belief, I'm just chattin.
Re: things that have made you happy today
4.5 million people and £26,000,000,000 can't be wrong!
Re: things that have made you happy today
So true. 3 million, yes, could be wrong, 4.5, NO CHANCE.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-26260978
The guy's wife and mother moved out and he had to leave his village over developing the machine. He refused the patent on the machine. Some of the shit, superstitions and social stigma he had to overcome is amazing.![]()
He supplied his group of medical students with sanitary pads and collected them afterwards. He laid his haul out in the back yard to study, only for his mother to stumble across the grisly scene one afternoon. It was the final straw. She cried, put her sari on the ground, put her belongings into it, and left. "It was a problem for me," he says. "I had to cook my own food."
Worse was to come. The villagers became convinced he was possessed by evil spirits, and were about to chain him upside down to a tree to be "healed" by the local soothsayer. He only narrowly avoided this treatment by agreeing to leave the village. It was a terrible price to pay. "My wife gone, my mum gone, ostracised by my village" he says. "I was left all alone in life."

Are the main consequences of that belief not feeling the need to talk overblown gas every day on anonymous Internet forums and reduced use of the word "Sheeple"?nowaysj wrote:You believe in the guarantees of your government, I get it. It's just a great word that's underused in this country... she delivers it with a venom that makes me weak at the knees and stiff at the dick.
