Different growl with what I think is a better vowel sound. :)

SOLO no sub bass:

I quite like this one, although I think it could do with something underneath it, or transposing down (maybe with a pitchshifter) to make it more of gutteral growl sound, although from hearing it in context of a song it definitely fits with the genre you're aiming for.

Could you explain what you use as a base for the sound a bit more? I think you mentioned Harmor or FM8, but if you could expand on the waveforms e.g. Saw wave modulated by something or 3 x Saw waves phased out or whatever that would be great.

I really like the way the sound sort of has that strained / tensioned vocal chordy break apart as it progresses and I'm struggling to get that tonal quality into my growls which means they all sound a bit Yoi rather than Rooooowwwwlllrr.

Sooooo, first I would like to say that the SOLO growl didn't have a sub underneath it

Now to answer your questions. Yes I used Harmor and I used both side A/B.

(A) was just a normal Saw Wave and (B) was noise that I sampled from Massive called Paper and I dropped it down in color. Placed a long note down and recorded it within FL. After I had the sample I dropped it on the envelope tab for side (B) after that you go to the slider that toggles between A/B more towards side (A) for fx setup it up like this ↓

For the Vowel form I did this with my EQ2 and Modulated it ↓

As for the Initial sound itself will sound similar to this ↓

Hope this helps! :W:

Link is dead for me, tried going to Soudcloud directly and couldn't see it on your profile. However your explanation has loads of things I hadn't thought of or applied to my sound, so thanks!

Also noticed you have an Excision style-bass on your Soundcloud too that is awesome as well. Any chance of sharing how you did that? I have a Mac so no Fruity Loops for me :(

Thanks for posting it up, it's really helped me connect the dots! I don't imagine the Excision bass is easy at all, but I really like it, probably more than Excisions bass as you've managed to capture the flow but with a cleaner stronger sound.

Hey, I know I'm a bit late, but I want to know how to make a particular growl...

Killsonik has a growl that he uses quite frequently, and I really want to get near that sound. It can be found in his remix of Sub Focus' "Tidal Wave" at 1:17:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxNBQQ_-JmM

In his track "Walrus" at 1:36:

And in his track "Slaughterhouse" at 1:35:

If you can help me, thanks :) :) :) !!!

Made this if it sounds good to anyone, used basic FL Studio plugins. Sounds very Barely Alive-esque to me.

See now i couldnt quite get that ticking sound with a saw wave, so i tried deep throat and layered that with a saw wave but it still wasnt enough, just then i remembered that a while back BA said they made the sedated groel with a.i. so i replaced the saw wave with a.i. and i got a very ticky but still full sound, then I ran it through the Fx chain as follows: Massive>Snausage Fattner>Eq(Boostng Vowel Freq)>Highpass Filter>WoW Filter(very low dry wet)>Ohmicide(Distorting mids and highs)>Scale Automation on a eq formant I>scale automation on a eq formant U>eq with automated frequency for vowel movement>Vocoder>Eq to boost highs>Snausage Fattener>Multiband Dynamics> Glue Compressor

Heres what the simple progression sounds like...

Wow! That growl is great, but posting both the method and the progression was awesome. It really helps to hear how the sound progresses as it get's shaped.

I think what would have been cool would have been to add on the clip for each part what he added not necessarily knob tweaks but what he was using for each vst on the fx chain! :)
