Re: So I attempted to remake Archangel...
Cheers for the love guys.
probs gonna sample pack out of all the dry samples (mainly just the vocals and strings/pad, but if you guys want the drums I may throw them in as well.)
I have the memory of a goldfish tho so If I don't up it within the next couple days, feel free to pm me or post in here to remind me
I can't really show how I did the vocals cos it was in melodyne mostly so in the actual project its just audio clips
I took the ray J one wish acapella and chopped out all the different words
Then fucked around in melodyne till it sounded mildy similar, threw autotune on afterwards
The throat formant in autotune helps get that bait pitch shifted effect, its hard to explain
as for the strings, yeah Pedro they're from the intro of MGS2, its 2 parts spliced into one and drenched in verb. It was harder than I thought it would be to get it sounding similar
But yea I'm stoked on it, I only did it for fun, never thought in a million years I'd get it this close!
EDIT: heres the full .wav

Wow. That's really impressive! ö
I think it's amazing, but I'm going to leave a couple things here that you could change in it. Don't take this disrespectfully; your recreation is amazing. Did you do the vocals by yourself? Or does it have common ancestry with the ones in Burial's Archangel? Anyway…

- The first snare in the rhythm doesn't have enough high end. Solve this however you see fit, but the original had more high end on the first snare-like percussive sound. The original was also a bit stronger, softer, and more fuzzy in the lower frequencies. Generally less synthetic-sounding than yours.
- The second snare-like sound (rimshot?) sounded different. The original struck differently so that there'd be more high end and less fuzziness. I don't recommend playing with the sound you currently have. Rather, you should swap the sound out for a closer one.
- The orchestral sound/pad thingy trails on a bit too much. If you have reverb on it, I suggest shortening it a tad.

Gotta say, love your Trichome work (and the whole Ghettomax crew tbh
) and this is just a testament to your mad, mad skills.
Big up yourself holmes! Cannot wait for that sample pack if you decide to make it, would very much want to get my hands on some of that
