System on low... decibel monitor to make sure. Remember it's mid afternoon, so parents are hardly going to be pumped up and demanding the DJ to turn it up - though that said, it's amazing how much the adults will start dancing once the atmosphere builds up. There is proper club lighting, bubble machines and glitter cannons on the dancefloor plus a parachute dance (parachute stretched over the crowd) at the end. Kids and parents alike love all that.

There's kids' entertainment too - a "chillout room" for babies full of pop up tents, tunnels etc, and a craft room where older kids can make masks, pirate hats or something else to match the day's dress-up theme.

The idea is it's an event that's not just "kids' entertainment" like most weekend family activities but that it's equally fun for kids and adults - the parents can have a couple of drinks and get into the tunes, while the kids love the madness of it - directly inspired by how much fun we all have with our families at festivals nowadays.

It's superb seeing how instantly the younger kids react to music, before they've started to develop any idea of what they're expected to like by their peer group. All of them seem to be into things like sub bass, fast breaks, acid sounds and bleeps - anything they can say is "like robots"! But they all have different tastes; my boy who's 4 is into smoother stuff, while my nearly 2 year old girl likes anything that's a fast, furious racket whether that's jungle, punk or pop.

That's a genuinely good idea. Well done (to your lady) for getting it going!
