The Tonkin Triangle & Gulf of Siam have been taking craft for at least 50 years.
During the Vietnam War many aircraft and ships disappeared in this area.
Only one, PanAm N780PA Flight 841 out of Saigon on 3 June 1967,
flying to Kuala Lumpur for maintenance, has ever reappeared.
In 2013 it is "rumoured" to have landed in Kota Kinabalu
and it's pilot and co-pilot reputedly seized by the Royal Army of Sulu Sultanate,
This was publicly reported as an attempt by that body to reclaim part of Sabah.
Indonesian authorities retrieved the aircraft on behalf of American agencies
and it was shipped to the USA in January this year
according to eyewitnesses to its unloading in San Diego.

As time goes on, it seems more and more possible to turn out to be something similar to the egyptair crash in 1999 where one of the pilots intentionally crashed the plane. I think a mechanical or electrical failure that disabled the transponder is REALLY unlikely since that's one of the most redundant systems on the whole machine. whatever happened, I think it involves someone deliberately turning it off.

unless of course there was a midair explosion that destroyed the plane, but then they would've found wreckage in the area where the transponder was last working

Was that ever properly proven? I know the US investigation came back with something like the co-pilot had crashed it deliberately as he'd been reprimanded for sexual misconduct or something, but Egyptair always denied it IIRC?

i fucking LOVE conspiracy theorists. this just made me crack up
i am thinking it had something to do with big oil companies, notice the 11 people on board who seemed to hold possession of a new electric car, which would of course destroy the oil industry...i am leaning towards tampering of the flight information.

Googled Freescale again, got this;

http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/malaysia-airli ... es-1440097

And from this got to BeforeItsNews, where apparently missing passengers phones are ringing, there were 25 electronic spy experts on board and the plane was brought down by EMP.

Of course if had been brought down by EMP, the chances of phones ringing belonging to the people on board seem pretty low. BeforeItsNews needs to be taken with a pint of salt, as always.

Clearly hijacked. Could reappear at opening match of Brazil World Cup packed with explosives, that's a lot of potential victims crammed into a small place

from wikipedia
The cockpit voice recorder (CVR) recorded the Captain excusing himself to go to the lavatory, followed thirty seconds later by the First Officer saying in Egyptian Arabic "Tawkalt ala Allah", which translates to "I rely on God." A minute later, the autopilot was disengaged, immediately followed by the First Officer again saying, "I rely on God." Three seconds later, the throttles for both engines were reduced to idle, and both elevators were moved three degrees nose down. The First Officer repeated "I rely on God" seven more times before the Captain suddenly asked repeatedly, "What's happening, what's happening?" The flight data recorder reflected that the elevators then moved into a split condition, with the left elevator up and the right elevator down, a condition which is expected to result when the two control columns are subjected to at least 50 pounds (23 kg) of opposing force.[1] At this point, both engines were shut down by moving the start levers from run to cutoff. The Captain asked, "What is this? What is this? Did you shut the engines?" The First Officer did not respond. The Captain repeatedly stated, "Pull with me" but the FDR data indicated that the elevator surfaces remained in a split condition (with the left surface commanding nose up and the right surface commanding nose down) until the FDR and CVR stopped recording. There were no other aircraft in the area
seems like its pretty clear that it was intentional
