@nowaysj: not sure if it should remain so sparse, but then again i'm not sure adding a melody would be beneficial... maybe go crazier with the percussions, add in some tribal-ish drums to fit with the vibe set by the vocal samples ?

@m8son: great work on these percussions! i really dig the melody too, tho i feel the melodic synth and the vocals could be a bit louder in the mix? also maybe i'd add some more incidental/"atmospheric" stuff, maybe a subtle pad in the back or some reverbed stabs, idk some new elements to act as a counterpart to the main synth

@JBE/twisted psykie: the atmosphere in the intro is too much, that bass is quite something too, great sound design. i agree with mason's comment on the kick, could be a bit more present. not sure about the arpeggiated trance-y synth (personal taste obv, at this point it becomes a running joke... i swear i give that same feedback on arpeggiated synths every week ). aside from that minor pet peeve, can't really fault it, great work man.

@BudSpencer: Dröhnt Alles: i liked the part where they speak german. also what's the sound in the middle? a hang drum ?

Rave Idee: man this is sick! this really deserves to be turned into a finished track, as nowaysj pointed, check those hihats. also overall i wish the percussions were a bit more wild, adding variations, like sending that clap through a reverb at times, having a second different hi hat samples on the offbeat at some point, things like that?

edit, i had missed dubunkle: still not liking the clap could be just me but i feel for this kind of music (super minimal dungeon-ey dubstep), each individual sound has to be sort of perfect and outstanding on its own, and especially the clap/snare, it has to be hard hitting, i'd suggest layering some fx under it to give it some more character, also you could try varying the effects on it, like have it go through the same reverb as your snappy sample at times to emphasizes the end of a "sentence" (not sure if i'm expressing clearly)

ok i would really like to hear the "wobble" to open more here and there. what i love to do is make a send channel with a smooth reverband a ncie delay and when it opens raise the send enough to make it noticable not in your face but yeah i def see this working here. the sounds wokr really nice together
maybe a dif snare ride maybe tad down or layer the snare. i would even say less beat sections maybe some mini breaks. and yeah maybe some dif wavetables you used a square? maybe make it saw at some parts and seeif it works but you might need to copy the effect chain and change around tiny bit

what do you mean by the clap? do you mean the main "snare"? like the perc that hits on beat 3? or do you mean that other perc that is more random? that's a rim/side snare sample. i saw you comment on that last week but wasn't really sure which one you meant...

totally agree on ur analysis of a good dungeony song btw. each sounds needs to have that "special" quality to it.

exactly just open the filter abit dunno with a bandpass you need to be more causion but a lowpass should be fine
imo its like a nice bridge between like dungeon and housey dub effects not too static not too jumpy

i meant the main snare, as i say, i feel it sounds a bit too much like a stock sample imo, try layering it with something else possibly ? also you could send it through the same reverb as the rim/side snare sample at times, this would help breaking the monotony

Talked to a couple of people - on the beats production side. One guy that has made some beats for Peanut Butter Wolf, but he is more of a hip hop head, not exactly what I'm thinking about. Am looking for a little more out there. But I'd like to talk to him more see if he would be down with a little more out there. Re the location, I've asked around, and again, people think in these boxes like, "It'll be a hip hop club night?" I'm like no, beats mane, odd fucked up beats that only 11 people could like. But I haven't driven around, crawling the streets for dive bars. That is something I am avoiding actually.

I worked on a song earlier in the week, in the 404. Just so fucked up. Like the entire beat was buried in noise. Like deep down in there. Was kind of loving it. Thought was move it to the computer and push it further, get some drums in there. Spent the day yesterday pounding square pegs into round holes. Everything sounds just fucking horrible.

I was set to walk away, but I find in quiet moments, I FUCKING HEAR THIS BEAT IN MY HEAD, LIKE IT HAS BEEN LOOPING THIS WHOLE TIME.

I can't recall what it is called, your musical memory? What ever that faculty is called to hold music in your mind, and to remember music, whatever it is called, since doing TUNA!, I swear to god I've gotten way better at that. Like this neuroplasticity shit is for real.

It is also terrible. I wake up in the mornings with the beats I've been working on running through my head. Like literally audio. It is actually kind of annoying.
