Yeah, the interface seems a little better now that I actually have it in front of me, but I'm still not sure about it though. The tools thing is kind of foreign to me as well. And I have yet to figure out how to turn off the grid

EDIT: I guess you can't deactivate the grid, you can just turn off snap.

Snapping is bottom right corner of the viewport beside the horizontal scroll bar.

And yeah tools suck. That was one of the greatest things about Reaper, you could do anything with mouse buttons and keyboard modifiers.

Yeah, I'm finding the cutting tool useful but that's about it so far. And thanks for the tip on the snapping. Also, I'm in awe that there aren't groups. Scrolling through a bagillion tracks is most definitely not word. Not word at all.

It's coming in a future update apparently.

It's still pretty virginy atm. I imagine 1.4 will be super duper nice once they solve a few issues and add in the stuff they've been holding back to polish.

That's alright then, groups just save mad real estate. You can shift click tracks though and while highlighted rick click and hit create fx track and it will automatically route all highlighted tracks to a return. Pretty handy.

I wish I could just cut pieces from every daw and wave a wand and end up with the perfect hybrid for me. So many solid features in every daw and none yet that nail all of them. Bitwig seems quite promising but it's still a baby.

This product It's not ready for a release.
I Found the interface cluttered and really unclear, it really made me want to close it after playing with some sounds after 3 mins.
I just like the bounce in place function ,mixing midi and audio and universal modulators.
Ableton can't do most of those things bitwig can do BUT ableton's interface it's much clearer to me and at the end of day it's workflow and a poor gui can ruin it.
Sorry BitWig for me it's a no. Maybe on next versions they will iron out some stuff and fix the GUI.

I almost forgot..no audio unit support -_-

Its a new DAW and will take time to get used to. I felt like closing logic for the first 3 mins using it too.

Yeah you have to factor in the fact that the reason it seems like you can't do anything with it is... because you don't know how to use it yet. Not because of some inherent flaw in the interface design. I think it's quite well done and intuitive. Ableton still seems impenetrable to me at times. Nondescript icons, weird placement of shit. The Bitwig GUI seems much much more clean and friendly to me.

Saying a program is unfit for release just because everything isn't immediately obvious to you the first time you start it up is a bit ridiculous. I'm on a PC but can't you just run Mac VSTs?

I'm pretty impressed so far. It has a few annoying limitations but overall is pretty good for a 1.0 release. They've confirmed that there will be features added before 2.0, such as group tracks, so it's only going to get better.

You can route audio tracks to a buss audio track, but in terms of grouping them into a folder and minimizing them, that's not implemented yet.

Of Course I'm not Saying I should be a pro in 3 mins, But with ableton it's been different.
It was all clear almost from the begin. If they get a little more intuitive I could also switch.
Really....Not even Logic was that obscure to me.
Can't be arsed to reinstall all my plug in VST.

You don't need to reinstall all your plugins. User error.

But yeah it does have a few minor flaws e.g. track grouping not implemented, and space bar doesn't stop audio unless focus is on the program window. Otherwise, workflow is great and intuitive, v2.0 will be interesting.

What do you mean the program window?

Can anyone confirm this?

This alone may be a deal breaker for meh.

Like if you're in firefox and hit space, Bitwig doesn't stop? I don't see why you'd think that would work, that's a pretty retarded expectation. I just tested clicking within every window and panel and hitting space and it works fine. Unless you're typing within the browser of course. Software isn't telepathic.

He means that VSTs steal the spacebar focus. I can confirm that this is a problem and has been reported as a bug on the Bitwig forum.

Well that is a problem, isn't it?

I wanna hear what darkmatter is talking about though.

Hey, how long does the demo last?

Just saw Simulant's response. How do most daws handle this? I know in FL you can set it per vst, like it is an option saved in the vst wrapper. It is really annoying. I've got a few vst's that trip if they're disallowed keyboard focus, so have to leave em be, and can't stop fl from playing. This is a ball ache. I can confirm this.
