tell me more about dubstep

Post by skosh » Sat Apr 08, 2006 9:06 am

i'm loving what i'm hearing, it's kind of familiar to me...kind of reminiscent of a distant murky past from the 70's when i used to take magic mushrooms and acid and go to reggae and dub clubs...lovely stuff

anyway, tell me more, i've known about dubstep for a while, i think maybe my daughter alerted me to it first...

how diverse is it? are there different styles within it? i've seen the term uplifting used does that mean also there's a darker moodier side? what about doom-dubstep? ;)

teach me i'm hungry for knowlege :D

it's got everything you need: bass for your heart, reverb for your mind, and drums for your body.

enjoy.

dub inflected broken beats at 140bpm which can be halved like jungle to roots ragga to make halfstep at 70 bpm...

...how diverse it it ???

just listen to the difference between...

...boxcutter, scuba, benga and loefah for a taste

then throw the fullsteppas in like vex'd , search&destroy, toasty...

...and add a bit of HELL_SD for something out on the fringes and you'll get a narrow view of the big picture

skoshy, i know you're into the darkness but have a listen to this. in my opinion, one of the best mixes last year. going to be a classic for sure. no mc's. all killer no filler.
