Dude, I was demoing this guys 4k, the pads were literally like erect nipples, like you wanted to touch them just cause they felt good. They were stiff and spongy, totally responsive. I ended up not buying it because some of the pads were double triggering. But in hind sight, in retrospect, smh.

Re: the classic "take a photo of your setup" thread
Dude if I can get these to sit the way I want them and not deteriorate over time they'll be perfect. The pads themselves are nice and thick, and the pads that were working yesterday were exactly what I wanted. I think the combo of trimming the shit around the ovals and cleaning the sensor will get them to perfection levels. You know how much of a perfectionist I am too. I'm shooting for an ultra feather touch, like tapping a touch screen amount of pressure.
Then again I've never played an MPC so maybe I don't know what I'm missing. As long it picks up my ghost notes though, I'm happy.
I was considering selling my mpk and getting one of the new editions when they come out but if I can get this one how I want, I'll be completely satisfied. The backlit pads are kinda cool but so are baby blue fatpads. I just gotta go surgeon mode with this xacto knife to make sure everything's trimmed perfectly so I don't run into stuck pads.

Ok, I get it now.
I had an mpc back in the olden times and had not noticed a difference though tbf.

I have an mpk waiting for you covered in dust next time you're in europe
ps: sp404s are dirt cheap btw but they are probably the same quality pads as mpk.

We'll just drop a bomb somewhere in Greenland and boat the whole deal down and hook up with some chavs in Gibraltar and hit up Morocco in the weekends

Re: the classic "take a photo of your setup" thread
You have to be careful how you hit and where you hit the pads or you do get double triggering. Like a single finger hit in the same are of the pad will sometimes double trigger vs the 2 finger method. I'm having a blast with mine though, whipped up that beat in my sig on it it a couple hours from sampling the record to chopping to trimming it and assigning the regions.nowaysj wrote:Dude, I was demoing this guys 4k, the pads were literally like erect nipples, like you wanted to touch them just cause they felt good. What monitor's are those?
Re: the classic "take a photo of your setup" thread
This is probably not advice for everyone, but monitors has to have a bit of room behind them to not accumilate all the subs freqs and double them up or cancel them out.
Like the third of the distance from your face to the speakers away from a wall.
I will do it now lol.

Re: the classic "take a photo of your setup" thread
just some old sony speakers.. no point in monitors before acoustics right? since room is gonna color the sound anywayrockonin wrote:What monitor's are those?
i thought about gettin serious headphones.. but im not much of an headphone guy so i'll probably save up till i have enough for serious monitors.. taxes are crazy here

Re: the classic "take a photo of your setup" thread
tbh acoustic treatment and bass traps and such is a looooong game
just get the smallest possible speakers that still kick a bit of boom

I really wouldn't worry too much about acoustic treatment unless you're thinking of becoming a professional mixing engineer. Just worry about making good music, which you can do with what you've got already.Still Young wrote:just some old sony speakers.. no point in monitors before acoustics right? since room is gonna color the sound anywayrockonin wrote:What monitor's are those?

Re: the classic "take a photo of your setup" thread
you do want to worry about it, but not to the point where you refuse to get monitors before room treatment. your mixdowns will probably be 75% okay as long as the monitors arent set up horribly wrong (e.g, next to or facing a wall). room treatment is for the last 25% or whateverTurnipish Thoughts wrote:I really wouldn't worry too much about acoustic treatment unless you're thinking of becoming a professional mixing engineer. Re: the classic "take a photo of your setup" thread
I don't know about that dude... I've got like no trust in my monitors anymore. I can get a mix sounding right and pretty good on my monitors, throw on some headphones... and the track sounds unmixed. Fucking crushing dude, especially for someone that doesn't like mixing.
Re: the classic "take a photo of your setup" thread
what makes you trust your headphones any more than your monitors though?
Re: the classic "take a photo of your setup" thread
I don't per se. But I actually do, because mixes done on my headphones translate better to other systems.Phigure wrote:what makes you trust your headphones any more than your monitors though?
