they should make a huge budget version of that film where everything goes wrong in sequences (title ?).

or like a rube goldberg machine that lasted 90 mins

imo

Captain America - The Winter Soldier

Amazing, one of the best if not the best of the Marvel series so far. Well written, enthralling story, set pieces were jaw dropping. Great nods to the rest of the series and the in-jokes were ridiculous;
[+]
Samuel L Jackson's gravestone inscription was cheeky as fuck, think only the English people in the cinema got it though
Bits I especially loved;
[+] Spoiler
  • Introductions of Falcon, Crossbones, Baron Strucker, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch were done smoothly. None of them felt like they'd been shoehorned into the film
  • GSP fight scene
  • Robert Redford's performance
  • The final helicarrier fight
  • Captain America actually having some humanity this time round, last film was a bit flat. The flashback with Bucky, visiting an elderly Peggy Carter, having a flashback to his training days. Well acted by Evans, none of it felt too cheesy or drawn out
  • The tie-ins to the rest of the series. Mentions of Stark, Banner, as well as the list of targets including Tony Stark, Pepper Potts etc quickly spooling across the screen
Only bit I had slight issue with was
[+] Spoiler
Even if Zola was stalling for time whilst the missile strike was coming, why did he feel the need to reveal the entire plan and the nature of HYDRA's full scale infiltration of SHIELD?

Really appreciated it. The casting is really good and the story is cool. Enjoyed it. A movie to chill to.

If you hate them in general, then this one won't change your mind on the whole series.

If you're a fan, then IMO this one was the best so far.

R.I.P.D.

Utter shit. Worst film I've seen so far this year.

Image
Dirty Wars

Informative documentary, felt like it had to be taken with a pinch of salt though. Narrator goes on a bit like he's the only honest person in the whole region at times.

Image
Bloodsport

Always jokes.

Image
Boiler Room

Based on the original Wolf Of Wall street book. Good craic, quintessential 2000 cinema.

Image
Shooter

Fairly predictable, attention to detail on the actual science of shooting was pretty spot on.

The Hunt (2012)

Brill. A kindergarten teacher gets falsely accused of interfering with his best friend's daughter in his care... the way the "investigation" spirals out of control is scarily believable.

Image

The Prince And The Showgirl (1957)

Laurence Olivier does his absolute best to get Marilyn Monroe acting with mixed results. Enjoyable.

Image

Empire Records (1995)

Wow, this has AGED. Still a great deal of fun but yeah, slightly cringey at times.

The Avengers is imo the best movie in the Marvel franchise.

It's not bad, but it's definitely not the best in the franchise. I've enjoyed The Avengers and even Iron Man 3 more. Probably because i don't know a lot about Captain America.

Superhero movies are ok when they're done well but very few of them are.

Spiderman 1 was quite good

Iron mans, hulk, hellboy, superman, daredevil all awful

Batmans are good but overrated, Batman begins is actually my favourite of them

Fuck, you just reminded me that I still need to watch that. There's a pub in Plymouth that has a huge poster taking up a whole wall for it and me and my mates always talked about how we should all watch it every time we saw the poster there.
