Lot of people had that opinion as Rapture was the first ever song with a rap in it broadcast on MTV. So for many people it was the first time they'd heard rap, with Blondie being the first 'rapper'.

In fact a lot of UK Hip Hop is relevant to this thread as it's got that "I'm really intelligent but actually never say anything interesting " vibe just with a new era cap instead of a fedora
