Chicks & Drugs = Dj Tool.

Plus that first bassline after the sample goes off...

Good for blending. It prob mixes well with half my library

what's a dj tool, seriously? everytime people talk about dj tools i feel like the tune's actually too crappy to work on his own.

Although many are, dj tools really don't have to, and shouldn't, be boring, I know it's not dubstep but just look a something like stacks riddim, great on its own but even better when you use it for fun blends

chicks& drugs probably wasnt meant to be one, but it happens to work as a DJ tool anyways cause its bland as fuck

DJ tools are tunes that are fun to mix, loads of tunes in dubstep I would rarely ever think of sitting and listening to from start to finish. The whole night slugs club constructions are DJ tools.

Really decent tunes would often sound horrific if you put them in a 3 deck mix or something but minimal or dungeon works really well imo. Pretty much all dungeon is a dj tool in my eyes, in fact the majority of dubstep is built with mixing in mind.

I'd never listen to Chicks & Drugs on its own but it is fun to mix.. the cringey sample certainly don't put me off. Then again I'm a sucker for those rnb club remixes that sound cheesey as fuck as well, just enjoyable to mix with.

i see your point, but i disagree to an extend. most electronic music is build for mixing and definately sounds better when it's part of a fluid selection and blended nicely with other tunes. but that doesn't mean it can't be good on it's own when listened to in another context than in a club. i also think there are a lot of dungeon tunes, which work pretty good on their own and just the possibility of blending them in a 3 deck mix doesn't make them dj tools. i always see that term as a little pejorative, because it implies it's actually a mediocre tune that doesn't work on its own.

Oh yeah definitely but my point is just because its a pretty average tune on its own and the fact people agree its average and that the sample is cheesey that it isn't fun to mix with. It probably wasn't intended to be a DJ tool but most people see it as that because it is pretty mediocre but fun to mix with, thats not to say all DJ tools are mediocre.

Like I said the club constructions are DJ tool releases (I'm sure bok bok described it as that in his redbull lecture) and they're pretty decent on their own.

Maybe a guilty pleasure because its fun to mix but its pretty average is a more accurate description rather than 'DJ tool'.

i've always thought a big meaning of DJ tool was like a tune that starts at 140 and ends at 170 or something like that, literally a tool for DJing as opposed to just a tune that's fun to mix, but the latter can also be called a DJ tool as well.

Well Chicks & Drugs was produced along with some other producer Stylust Beats, all his (or theirs, dunno) tunes are wank, check his Spotify tunes and all his other tunes are brostep-ish stuff.

Spry Sinister? Space Cash? Born to Know? I'm sure Mala's not gonna put out dungeon tunes if that's what you're worried about. Kaiju's a good producer, I'm excited about this tbh.

Thats fair enough if you're not excited about it but to be disappointed before the tunes have even been announced.. I wouldn't write them off so quickly. They've not released anything for ages and been pretty quiet for a while now, M16 was suppose to come out on Wheel & Deal I think but ended up on Osiris, so those tunes are probably quite old. Could have been grafting in the studio and come out with something decent. Ipman also waited ages for his Wheel & Deal release and just look at his output since, entirely different.. same with Benton. I expect they've switched their style up.

Also Kaiju are 2 people.
