At the end of the day its the CL semis, Jose isn't there to give the neutrals an entertaining watch... we came for a draw, got the job done. Jose will get shit for the way we played but going into the home leg 0-0 is pretty good, although away goals could fuck us. Remember the semis against Barca when we got 0-0 away and was 1-0 up at home until 92nd minute iniesta :(

Fell asleep in the second half, sounds like I didn't miss much. Atletico's strikers were garbage from what I saw

I cried for a little while.

rockonin this is what i mean by anti-football. enjoy it whilst it lasts
Imagine being beaten 6-0 by said "anti-football" team

Its 2 legs.. you understand that at this level its not about entertainment? We watch it for entertainment but if you really think their job is to entertain then you're completely wrong, its to win and the CL is huge money. We went there with the aim of not conceding and taking a minimum of a draw to the home leg and we've done that.

I'm sure you have a working remote you could have turned over when you saw our lineup, it was clear our intentions. No way was Jose gunna take a team who have struggled MASSIVELY in front of goal all season and go all out attack away, it'd have been suicide. Hes paid to win and if that means playing boring football in an away leg, then surely thats what he has to do? Not purposely put forward losing tactics just to entertain you lol.

If we go through to the final todays leg will be the reason why, important result regardless of it being one of the most mind numbing games I've seen.

when you beat us 6-0 you weren't playing anti-football though
if you are happy with the way chelsea play football thats you innit
i personally wouldn't want my football club to take that approach

You support a team who act like a business and haven't won anything in nearly 9 years lol.. but you wouldn't wanna play boring football in an away leg of a CL semi final? You'd rather your team commit tactical suicide for what.. you to be proud of the way you play? You'd be willing to throw a good chance at reaching the final away just so you could say "but at least it was entertaining"?

Its not that I'm happy with it, its the fact I understand why we did it.. I'll happily admit it was boring and I wish we'd attacked more and gone for the win, but you show absolutely no acknowledgment of why it was done, which I find odd because I really don't think you'd be the same if it was Arsenal. Its not like we do that week in week out, and before the 'we've been boring all year' starts.. we've been shit in front of goal that doesn't reflect how weve played.

But fair enough if you can't see why a £2bn investment team (as you claim) would play defensively in an away leg of a semi final against a team who have been on fire this year while we've hit our worst form of the season.. it's little point trying to explain it.

ok you're happy with the way you play football. you don't have to justify it to me lol
i wouldnt be happy to throw a good chance at reaching the final away just so i can say "but at least it was entertaining".
in that situation we would have played like anyother team in the champions league. we wouldn't set up to get a draw. we may put in players to improve our stability but we wouldn't play for the draw and im happy that we wouldn't
there's a difference between playing cautiously and setting up to get a draw and then celebrating it

you wern't just playing defensively you weren't even playing to win

i think its a small team thing to do

as guillem balague put it
'4 those who think winning is everything: y watch the game, wait 4 result! & I guess u will decide if team playd well if they win #smallmind?

'CFC is a rich successful club.A big club. Top 3 in titles the last decade in Europe. They might beat AM,but wud do so playing lk a small team'

Again you're completely ignoring the fact that we've been absolutely dreadful upfront this year and its a 2 legged match. No we wasn't going for the win, but you must understand why? If you don't you've probably not seen how utterly shite we've been this year.

And i'm not justfying to you that I'm happy with the way we played.. I thought we was shit, I wish we'd attacked more, I thought it was boring.. I think all of us here agree on that. Its your inability to acknowledge why it was done and commenting "whats the point?" that I don't get.

If we play or a draw 2nd leg I take it all back and everything you've said is correct... but we won't. So things like "why be happy with a draw" just don't make sense in a 2 legged game, you can be very happy with a draw. If you're 1-0 up after the first leg then go away surely you'd then understand if a team sat back for a draw? Ignoring whether you agree a team should or not... you must understand why lol?

Either way it was a shit, boring game but a good result for us.

Shame Torres didn't impress though, was hoping he'd be off back to them in the summer.

i see what your saying but its not exactly the first time that mourinho has done it.
i get why he did it. i just don't think its in the spirit of football or how it should be played. and again there is a difference between sitting back and not even making the slightest effort to win the game
i completely acknowledge that in the case of this particular game doing what chelsea did gives them the best chance of going through.
what your not acknowledging though, is that playing like that it is playing like a small football team

Haha thats fair enough then, I can't argue against that. I was only arguing because you said whats the point in turning up for a 0-0. Thing is as well Arsenal have been shoddy at the back but you've always looked like you could come back and win, Chelsea have been the exact opposite.. pretty solid at the back but if we go behind we are in real danger of losing. To keep a clean sheet away should not be overestimated for us, its massive because of our complete inability to score.

I agree though I don't like it and it is anti-football and it is what small teams do, but in our current situation I'd argue we are a small team against them.. they are top of the league with Bale Ronaldo & Messi in, we've just thrown the chance of winning the league away by losing to Sunderland (who are bottom) at home while also recently losing (and failing to score) against Palace & Villa. So although I hate the way we played today I won't deny it could have been the right thing to do, Jose knows it was as well.. hes not stupid and he knows he'll get a lot of shit for it.

Plus we probably learnt from the first leg against PSG which I thought, at least in the first half, we dominated but as always couldn't finish for shit.. PSG could. Left us 3-1 down to try fix at home. Taking a 0-0 is much easier to deal with.

Should the away team play for a draw though. Really. When away goals come into play. I think they should be adventurous to a degree especially if they're the team away first, those second leg away goals will be pushed for mark my words and it's always handy to have 1 or 2 from the first leg.

Torres was so shit, though, Chelsea could've got a few I rekon if they would of had a semi-decent striker.

How much is anyone even going to pay for him now? He's not even a £5 mil player...

Not feeling Chelsea's chances in 2nd leg with no Lampard, Mikel (what a lemon for that yellow), Cech most likely & possibly Terry.

Luiz is an absolute liability at CB
