Yeah sounds good to me! Maybe throw some more pads and incidental sounds while the bass and beats are rolling!

Soundcloud

A dark house tune I just released from my forthcoming Electrophonic Singularity EP. Any feedback is much appreciated, especially if it pertains to the overall mix (I mixed this on ATH-m50s so I realize its probably not as balanced as it could be.)

Also, I realize the intro is long as fuck but it serves a purpose in the context of the project, which I am structuring sonically to invoke the same emotional journey that a film would. This is the first track after the upbeat intro (the exposition) and I want it to build slowly to the drop so it feels like something ominous is creeping up on you, and then once it drops this something takes over and transports you to a wondrous, but somewhat overstimulating new world.

[+] Spoiler

In the context of the EP's story this scene is supposed to make you feel like someone who has just found themselves eavesdropping on a secretive meeting that is focussed on orchestrating very dark events. You feel wondrous at this enlightening information, but also scared by what you are finding out. Eventually this information clicks and fucks up your whole perception of reality (the "drop" event") and you enter a world of both infinite possibility and overwhelming uncertainty… from here Ill let your imagination take over. Enjoy.

Arkive, I think your track has great potential to be a big dark rave track but because of your 'concept art' take on it you've blocked that as a possibility. For that reason I won't give any feedback on your production. Once something becomes a concept it's not right to judge it in a technical manner.

If I'm honest, the majority of the tune was just background music for me... I just plodded along with it and forgot what I'm listening to. The ending raised my attention though, the track felt a lot better with the real drum sounds. It bought the entire track out of its shell, which is a shame as it's such a short amount of time and at the end of the track. If this track was unfinished [?] I'd say make that theme a prominent feature of the track.

It's a demo or a work in progress sort of thing and thanks :)

Post by andyyhitscar » Fri May 23, 2014 7:11 pm

Hey everyone,

I recently remixed and remastered this song I made. It sounds a lot better than what I had first.

Let me know what you think.

- Like the pad sound & chord, even with the subtle white noise dirt to it, it still sounds pretty lush. I'm hoping the dirt drops out later in the track but am yet to find out.

- Like percussion additions that drive the intro along and give it some slightly melodic character.

- Like the way you cut up the pad sound from the first drop actually. But as I said before, I think it would have been nicer if you dropped the white noise addition out from there and give it some real smooth, melty vibe. Make it taste like Galaxy chocolate :W:

- The somewhat Jazz-esque improvised-feeling-melody that comes in would sound loooooads better with a really nice, authentic sounding rhode or even any other organic sound than the current monophonic ringtone vibe synth you've got going on currently.

- Your bass sound as a whole could possibly benefit from more of an attacky, thumpy hit to it. It's nice as it is don't get me wrong and it could be argued it suits the vibe of the track, but I still think you could (potentially) shorten the decay a tad and compress it a bit more to really get a bit more thump out of it. With that quite nice slapping but not too heavy on the bottom end kick you've got, you could definitely afford to have the bass punchier.

Hi! Well, i haven't wrote anything in dubstepforum since like 2010 when i used to producer Dubstep, so this is kinda my first post ever as another alias.

My name is Daniel from Caracas, Venezuela, and i used to make music under the name Kiev, i've had some releases in both physical and Digital releases in a few labels such as Aquatic Lab, Disquiet Mind, Senseless Records, Dank N Dirty Dubz, Lu10 Records and a few others.

I thought it was time to make other types of music so i ended up making music as Dahni to focus mainly on House and Techno stuff.

So i'm gonna leave this right here for you guys in case you wanna listen. All feedback is appreciated. I'm also up for giving any feedback so hit me up if you wanna share something with me!

Hello everyone. I've been lurking for a very good while (had another account but didn't like the username anymore!), this will be my first post. To shortly introduce myself, I come from a lineage of DJs. My grandfather spinned in the age of disco, and my father is a known name in the canadian techno scene. I'm now learning the craft myself, been at it for 2 or 3 years, and I'm starting to feel comfortable with putting my stuff out there. I'm a very proactive user on soundcloud, so hit me up.

Here's a track I did, French House/Nu Disco. Tell me what's up with it, I'll be going through this thread and listening to stuff. Soundcloud
