Re: The SNH Football thread
losing a game must be a weird feeling.
so far i can relate to half of it.
there's the humiliation of defeat, that i get.
then there's driving home from your job to your family and getting what u need to support everyone for doing what u love.
learn something new every day.

Re: The SNH Football thread
Nah, he wasn't much cop anyway, 6 goals in total, but 4 of them were on his debut. Poor discipline too. Macheda has been something else though. 10 in 15 (I think, might be 11 now), so I can see why he was left on the bench for a crunch match at the weekend.jaydot wrote: Is Jesse Lingaard (sp) still playing for you?
Yeah this man. My mom is a Portsmouth fan, so there was a bit of piss taking at first, but after that it just wasn't funny. Another club that was on the verge of pushing on and were ruined.scspkr99 wrote:Yeah as much as I'm alright with fans taking the piss out of what other clubs do on the pitch I wouldn't wish your owner on anyone.
Whilst I'd love Villa to go down, just so some of my mates experience relegation for the first time in their lives, I wouldn't even wish them an owner as bad as Yeung & Co.

Yeah I remember you explaining the backstory when the news broke he'd been found guilty. I know what it's like to have a club in trouble and those troubles we can all do without.garethom wrote: Yeah this man. I always wanted Everton to go down to take the piss but the season would be lacking without the derby.
Re: The SNH Football thread
The league is less fun without City and Wolves tbh, West Brom derby is cool, but it was awesome to have so many in a season.scspkr99 wrote:Yeah I remember you explaining the backstory when the news broke he'd been found guilty. It becomes a challenge within the league, get best position in the west midlands.

All that melts away when the lights are down and the bass is up.
Re: The SNH Football thread
Just remember a few years back, think it was Houlier's last year as Villa manager, really looked like you were going down, last day escape business, my mate basically in tears on the phone, actually said the words "You don't know what I'm going through here" unironically.
Nah mate, only been relegated 4 times in my lifetime, three times in the last 6 seasons

Re: The SNH Football thread
Yeah you want things that matter at the end of the season and rivalries do that. Like it's been shit missing on the CL for the last 4 seasons but finishing below Everton has been particularly galling.
Re: The SNH Football thread
Thinking on it, West Midlands football is shit man.
Villa have become the new Blues (finishing below mid-table every year, too-close-for-comfort relegation battles, deeply unhappy fans), Birmingham are financially in the shit and seem to be slipping into League 1, on the back of setting a second tier record for longest without a home win, Coventry now play in Northampton because they got kicked out of their ground, Wolves just suffered back to back relegations, Walsall just aren't even worth talking about and Baggies are such a nothing team that will do nothing, win nothing and inevitably crawl back to the championship in a few seasons.

Re: The SNH Football thread
I don't get how the West Midlands doesn't have at least one massive club. You have big population centres and ones that would seem to support a large football club. I get Villa and Birmingham have the potential crowds but I don't know how sustainable they are at the current level of football.
Re: The SNH Football thread
Villa are sort of Everton sized, I guess, maybe a bit bigger in terms of money, stadium, history, etc. they just haven't acted like it for a good few years.
Also, apparently Birmingham generates more premier league footballers than any other city (inc. London) according to some report a couple of years back, so we have quality local talent, and we're still all shite.

Even Monreal looked back on form yesterday
Newcastle are awful though, Pardew's probably gone if they lose to Cardiff

Re: The SNH Football thread
Newcastle fans were apparently singing "lets pretend we've scored a goal, don't think you're special we lose every week"
Re: The SNH Football thread
You beat Newcastle who have lost last their 6 six games in a row. It's not really an a massive achievement
Re: The SNH Football thread
Newcastle and Villa are the 2 worst teams at the moment, if wasn't for the first half of the season Newcastle would be screwed. What's that now, 7 defeats on the bounce?!
