what midi data would the rack be sending though? is there any reason a midi in audio out arrangement wouldn't work for the synth?wub wrote:That would be sufficient. You'd have MIDI cables to/from the synth to send and receive MIDI data, as well as output from the Triton itself for the actual sounds.sco wrote:if i had a laptop an audio interface a usb keyboard and a triton rack, would i be able to use the triton or would i be missing something?

Midi out wouldnt be necessary unless you were trying to control something in your daw with the synth or were daisy chaining multiple synths.sco wrote:what midi data would the rack be sending though? is there any reason a midi in audio out arrangement wouldn't work for the synth?wub wrote:That would be sufficient. SP-404 getting lots of shout outs lately.
OctaTrack and OP-1 (esp. the latter) get lots of love too. Any one or combo of these units, a mixer, a decent multi-FX unit - done.

price doesn't seem that bad for
how much does ur average synth cost? i wouldn't call it a silly price tagYou get 4 tracks to play with, 9 synth engines, a drum sampler, a bunch of (awesome) FX's, all in this keyboard sized package.
i reckon ppl were put off by the swedish house mafia video

I had that "boutique crap" kneejerk response too, but a friend of mine got one who's an old MPC-head and it rocks his world - I got to try it out and have to say that it's just a lot of fun to tweak on, it sounds good, and the workflow is nice and easy to focus on instead of getting lost in menus and stuff. Solid build too.wub wrote:Never used an op 1,they any cop? Seem hipster with a silly price tag.
If I had some extra $$$ would definitely pick one up. Seems to hit the sweet spot between live performance capability, portability, and power. While the price point is too high for me personally, it does not seem too high given what it can do.

Re: Making music OTB
Given Arturia's fantastic track record with MIDI devices I am going to wait for some user reviews to roll in; however, it promises to be the best deal going in the features for money category. Considering it also does CV. I am crossing my fingers there are no build issues as I really want to rig it up to my Filter Factory for step filter goodness...wub wrote:These are now shipping apparently;fragments wrote:If you are looking for a cool inexpensive sequencer consider the Arturia BeatStep. At that price i can afford to buy one anyway. See if it can serve as control 'hub' for my live rig.

Go look at what mid-90's jungle producers used. Teir set up was basic as fuck but listen to what they didwith it

From what I have seen on the videos that came out around NAMM the answer to this is probably a yes.wub wrote:At that price i can afford to buy one anyway. See if it can serve as control 'hub' for my live rig.
