Re: the recommend some new music thread
New SD Laika album is fucking good. It's all over the place but has this fucked up grime with early industrial vibes thing going on throughout
The new lack EP on Morhpine is good too

and the new LIES

Jamie T is still about? I thought he was a one album wonder after getting a hit with that fucking horrible song about stella or whatever.
Re: the recommend some new music thread
the album after wasn't that bad at all and was pretty big too i think,
used to play that first album so much when it came out (the ole indie days) but can't listen to him anymore

Re: the recommend some new music thread
Yeah not to shit on anyone's recommendation but I couldn't fucking stand his music back then.
Also on the subject of the "indie days" I'm so glad that stuff has gone now.

Re: the recommend some new music thread
yeah i can't say i think it was a particularly strong period of music either, especially looking back on the bands of the time like the rakes and the strokes etc, they didn't really do that much more than bastardize post punk of bands like television, gang of four and wire and sst stuff, was a bit of a depressing realization
i got to about 15 and got fucking sick of whiny indie boys like the smiths (still sick obviously) and completely switched over to gangsta rap

Re: the recommend some new music thread
The real problem was stuff like Razorlight when it blew up to full on mainstream levels.
Also the Arctic Monkeys were fucking unbearable back then rambling on in annoying accents about birds and lager and stuff whilst actually sounding like an amplified george formby.
But, this is derailing the thread so fuck it.

Re: the recommend some new music thread
i actually rate their first album, he was witty and could tell a story and draws you in, music wasn't futuristic or anything
but yeah derailing an' all
but yeah derailing an' all

Re: the recommend some new music thread
Always struck me as the sort of tnuc I'd hate to get stuck next to at a pub and I don't need that in musical form
Re: the recommend some new music thread
yeah, a lot of artists i've listened to/totally rate, that i would not wanna sit next to at the pub, feel like there's a thread idea in this; morrisey, henry rollins, pete townsend, danzig, almost every rapper....

Re: the recommend some new music thread
That track is really old, but I've been listening to a lot of my old music collection lately and that's part of it.
Back then I never really used to pay much attention to lyrical content, it's weird listening back and trying to figure out whether or not I related to it then, or if I kind of turned into that tbh.
Still enjoy it tbh.

Oh well, it's not so much entirely that. For example Black Flag were fucking amazing regardless of what you think of Rollins (personally not sure why he gets THAT much hate, especially compared to someone like Morrisey who you listed who is an apalling cock) , Just arctic monkeys struck me as being like hearing some kid bibbling on about stuff that happened on a Saturday night like it made him really interesting when actually it's like getting stuck talking to some ball bag at a pubRKM wrote:yeah, a lot of artists i've listened to/totally rate, that i would not wanna sit next to at the pub, feel like there's a thread idea in this; morrisey, henry rollins, pete townsend, danzig, almost every rapper....

If you are into stoner stuff like the sword, mastodon, etc
then check out fuzz and Conan
heavy as it gets (fuzz is more rock though)

i'm not saying i like black flag any less, i meant artists i still love but couldn't hang out with
i wouldnt put rollins on the same level of hate no, but i couldn't have a pint with him tbh, cos he's just so intense and frankly weird from what i've seen in interviews, and listening to his memoirs

Re: the recommend some new music thread
Probably couldn't have a pint with him mainly because he doesn't drink
Re: the recommend some new music thread
yeah and i don't have his phone number
or it's a hypothetical situation
