Compared to most pre-made sandwich places over here Subway's actually pretty decent, but compared to the hot sandwiches you get in the States, like, *everywhere* I don't think there's probably any need to go in a Subway ever. America is the best sandwich country in the world and it's not even CLOSE.

Judging by my extensive research on the subject (man vs food), I'd be a real chunker if I lived out those ways

I got what I thought would be a "quick sandwich" by an airport gate in Raleigh last year... took me the best part of two hours to finish. They must've put about 20 slices of wafer thin ham* in as well as cheese, salad and dressing... I'd better not think too much about it or I'll get turgid downstairs.

one of the sub shops by my home has a sandwich that is roast beef, coleslaw, french fries, and bbq sauce all between two ciabatta buns

Don't know how popular a thing it is, but Baguette Express is far better than Subway.

I've only ever seen those in train stations, but they are good. Quiznos is my favourite chain I think, but the one on Baker St closed so I was forced to move out of the area.

A quick finger count estimates that I've visited 28 countries. None of them came close to the US for sammiches... stuff-between-bread is practically their national dish.
