Also honestly when you tell people you play dubstep the "it's brostep" expectation isn't even really the issue so much. It's the fact that even if it's not brostep it's likely to be boring dungeon or just "classics". Not saying this relates to you at all but more just the general state of the scene.

yeah i get you, i get much more the brostep thing really, most people i know saw that become 'dubstep' and so don't really know the 'classics' either, and i think i know like 5 people irl that would know what dungeon is

i try and put the newest shit in sets, like new facta and sound kontrol, but really they're gonna be full of old bangers like roll with the punches and earth a run red because they get the best reaction and there's not a great weight of expectation on me to be coming out with dubs and first plays

generally at parties noone wants to hear any dubstep good or bad unless it is a proper dancey classic like skeng and even then only one or two tunes in a set. in clubs its a lot more different.
that being said i went to a bristol house party 5 years ago and nearly all the music was dubstep.
just a bit too late now

at house parties ill play anything from gala -freed from desire to t2 -heartbroken
i use them so i can play stuff i wouldnt normally play in clubs and to have fun.
noone is going to house parties to see djs play or listen to new or exciting music

i made the mistake of bringing vinyls to a house party last year. never again. turntables too jumpy and someone tried to rack a line of ket on my copy of spirit of the sun steve gurley remix

i'd say here it varies man, i like rnb/hiphop classics/ fun sets but there's also a lot of parties here with q an emphasis on dance music, like last night there was 2 hours of jungle, hour of techno before me, and at the party we had it was like entirely based on the music, techno upstairs allnight, and dubstep downstairs (decent line up too) then from 3am-> jungle, i think most people were playing vinyl all night and it turned out pretty sick despite the dark aggy music

Probably, the whole setup was probably covered in germs. Duno how pissed you were last night but you said something along the lines of "you can mix, duno what your on about saying you cant, you havent done anytning awful yet" and that threw me haha

Can't wait for Submerse's new album :h: :h: :h:
Soundcloud
Production is amazing as usual, liked his change of direction from garage to more hip-hoppier stuff.

I also reformatted my laptop, running so damn nicely!
